Shawn POV

The plane was mostly quiet apart from the small group chatter here and there, most of us on the plane didn't really know each other, but it's also hard to really talk like how we're used to since these a few of these flight attendants are teachers in disguise checking our potential and attitude during the flight.

I then turned to my side towards my brother, he got that blindfold covering his eyes due to a specific reason that happened a couple years ago, no special eye power or anything, but he has learned to use mana to make his eyes see through the piece of cloth and learned to even do things without relying on his fricking eyes.

"Bro, you okay there?"

"Don't worry, I'm not sleeping." he reassured me "I'm just looking at the island, it's massive."

The island is the size of a small country, it's supposedly 600 square km, it's going to be a part of our and about 2 million other wizards and witches.

We can see tall skyscrapers and apartments spread all over the island, but what's impressive from above were the large visible academies gleaming and shining on the sunny day. To live even in one of those apartments, you must be filthy rich, you're living in the most protected place in the world, and the price that comes with it is well worth it, no matter what angels come, the top wizards and witches live here, you're guaranteed your lives, and it's located at a spot where angels rarely attack as well.

The island got its own currency, laws, and public transportation, and basically already functions as its own sole nation even though it's under the UPF, which is made up of world leaders.

We applied and got accepted into Phoenix Academy, it's currently dominating as the top school for wizards and mages, over Dragon Academy, Tiger Academy, and Tortoise Academy. It should be located on the eastern part of the island to represent rebirth, it was always placed as the 2nd best throughout its history until around 3 years ago when it finally rose to 1st place, it's predicted to fall to 3rd this year though, not that it matters, we applied to this one because it's the least crowded with the least amount of people.

Though these 4 academies dominate the media for being the only schools that teach us to wield elemental energy, you can join the military and get lessons through there as well, even though it's not as famous, it's a popular destination for those who don't get accepted into the 4 academies.

My brother then handed me our school jacket, it's a simple black jacket with a white and gold on our chest pocket located at the upper left part of our chest. We had to wear it as we were later expected to separate and be given a tour and we don't want the guide to confusing between students who belong to each respective academy.

"It matches your black blindfold."

"Thanks, but fashion isn't really what we're here for." he replied and then talk in a low whisper "Besides, it's not like we're staying here long either, we gotta spend time applying for a post where we'll be stationing."

People learn more through hands-on experiences, and the 4 academies usually have students study directly from professionals instead of just sitting in class. We were told that we'll be required to apply directly for a post we want, we'll be helping in fights and we'll really be put to the test, whether we can spark proper chemistry, whether we can work in a team setting, everything is a test.

Though, as we got our bags from the overhead compartment, with a quick glance, I saw a superfast yellow light approaching the plane, Perseus then pulled me backward as that light crashed into the side of the plane and charged past right where I was standing to destroy the other side of the plane.

By pulling me backward, Perseus fell and caused this sort of domino effect with the people behind him as they all fell as well, but that didn't really matter because there was a freaking angel hovering in the air outside.

This is a regular angel, so this one has the standardized gold armor with that thick black clothing underneath and a gold helmet that covered their whole face, and the biggest thing that stand out was their white feathery wings.

"You know, I've never bothered to ask, but how do they see out of that thing?" Perseus said aloud as we got up

"Coming from a guy wearing a literal blindfold, that's a bit ironic, but I thought this place was safe." I commented as we then doubled back to the nearest emergency exit.

Perseus POV

"It was never said to be completely safe."

Strange, something is strange about this angel, the airport should be one of the more secure parts of the island, so how did one get so close that it managed to destroy a part of the plane?

The flight attendants, whether they are licensed sorcerers or not, should have some weapons on them in case of an attack like this, and there's the flight marshal as well, but where is that person, why are they not immediately attacking the angel? They couldn't have died, that charge attack shouldn't have hit anyone...

Unless...I then remembered a piece of conversation that I overheard when my parents were talking to my older brother with the loudspeaker on.

'I remember that there was a test even before we even arrived, I was warned of it, but apparently, it's different this year..'

This is a test, our academies are testing to see how we respond to a situation like this. Will we cower and run or will we be stupid enough to stand up against an angel while being inexperienced and powerless? Well, I'm starting to hate my student life already.
