Another Test (2)

Shawn POV

The apartment was small, really small, but I don't think we have any room to complain, we had 1 bathroom, it has one sink, a toilet, and a shower booth, and the bathroom was big enough for only fit 2 people, there's also a medicine cabinet behind the mirror with a first aid kit, some meds for diseases like coughs or cold, we also got some free toiletries as well.

The bedroom is big enough to fit one bed and a closet with some small space in between to fit me, I put my luggage into the closet and started to unpack, I then got in the shower and washed up after my brother finished his washing up.

I looked at the time to see that we have about 5 hours till the orientation, at least we're not still waiting in the line downstairs, thank goodness for my brother's blindfold and people's good hearts.

I checked the kitchen and it was even smaller, it was big enough to only fit about one and half a person as the fridge and the cabinets, sink and all the other things took up the other space, there's a fridge in there, with only drinks and 2 boxes of packed lunch labeled 'dinner' inside, there are also some mediocre cooking utensils in the cabinets, but we were expecting this, if we want good things, we're expected to buy them ourselves.

Then we have the living room and dining room that were basically merged together, the dining room was a 2 persons table by the window while the living room was right by the door, we had this small table, a couch, and one TV, at least we get our own internet router.

On that table though were 2 letters and 2 letters addressed to both me and my brother individually. I then opened it with my brother.

The boxes contained a tablet inside with some stationaries, the letter mentioned that the tablet will contain our books and all other necessary digital tools, so it'll be one of our most important pieces of equipment to have, the letter also told us of our class and school rules and all that, very generic.

Our student ID cards can also be as temporary residence cards and can apparently also apparently function as some sort of rechargeable contactless smart card for electronic payments and purchases at retail stores on the whole island, vending machines...etc.

It can be simply tapped or waved over a card reader to make a payment, without the need for cash or physical contact with the reader, the currency is simply called credits and the way to charge them up will be told during our orientation.

"Well, same class, Class A." Perseus said and he put the letter back onto the table and put his things back into the box "Ezra was in class A in his 3rd year, wasn't he?"

"That's a different school dude, besides A is just a letter, Class B, C, I don't think it matters."

"What if we're like in one of those schools where class A is the best class?" he countered "It happens all the time in fictional stories, we could be in one of those classes designed for abnormal students."

"Or we're in a class specifically designed for troublemakers if that's the case, besides, I know more about school than you and I doubt the academy will have that different of a system compared to a high school or universities/colleges. Besides, you used to go to school, why do you think this will be like some fictional story?"

"Because we're all fictional characters who are made to just exist in someone else's world?" he answered

"Yeah, I'm now glad that Dad made that letter for you to have me with you at all times."

We tried to go down to see if we can explore the nearby shops a bit, but first-years are told to only stay on campus for now, so we did, we went to the library and the on-campus underground department store and supermarket, which was all like 5 stories underground. And apparently, you can buy things here cheaper than what's available on the outside, the access is only given to students and the school's staff though, there is the exception for visiting guardians.

We head back for a quick dinner with the packed dinner given in the fridge and we then made our way to the auditorium about an hour before starting time, and it seems that quite a lot made it there before it, it's fricking packed.

Apparently, the first-year orientation isn't just for our academy, but for the other 3 as well, and they're doing it in one place, so there are a lot of students from the other academy who are just arriving, we managed to find our seats and it seemed that we made the right decision to bring our tablet along as there's a slide projected on stage saying that it's required that caused students from other academies to groan and ours to run back to their apartments, we may have a lot of elevators, some even at the side of the buildings on the outside, but there's still a line for those.

"Everyone seemed nervous."

"Well, there's the test that's supposedly going to take place." Perseus replied "I assumed that that's what these tablets are for."

"I think I'm getting tired of hearing the word 'test'."

"We've had just one."

"There's the physical when we applied, that's a type of test, the application process is also a type of test..."

"Fine, I stand corrected."

He definitely rolled his eyes there, I've known him long enough to know that, he rarely takes it off even at home, but he does 100% of the time take it off when he sleeps, what's strange though, it seems as if he's a bit agitated, which I would get since it's his first time being around so many people in a long time.

He kept turning his head and looking around, we then sat with mostly silence till we see 4 recognizable figures arrive on stage, the 4 principals of the 4 academies.
