Hellbent (2)

Perseus POV

"So why are we still doing this?" Ezra asked "There are 2 level 4s and a level 6 sorcerer nearby, even you can't escape easily once you're caught."

"Don't worry about me, find the girl."

Ezra then stepped in front of me and stopped me in my tracks.

"Yo, I may not be the same person, but please don't order me around like some sort of pet or servant." he nagged "Besides, even if we find these victims, you should know that not all ghosts remain after their death, and if anything, you should know full well that ghosts do not like being close to sorcerers, they'll go away if you come close."

"Don't worry, I'll steer clear like usual."

"You do realize that this is the first time where we'll be interfering with police work, right?" he pointed out "Why are we doing this? The Japanese police force is super effective at what they do."

"Yes, I'm aware, but I prefer to hasten the process a bit. Your translation device still works right?"

"Yeah, lucky I died with that on, so don't worry, I can talk to em."

I then steered clear of everyone by staying out of sight in an alleyway while waiting for Ezra to do what he does, kinda sucks that he isn't an actual ghost, so he can't really fly towards a destination and has to run. Not that I mind, if it takes longer, I get opportunities to take a power nap or so.

"Yo, hey, wake up." Ezra called out

"I am, don't worry, I've been through sleepless nights like this many times...how long were you gone?"

"I'd say an hour and a half, it's like 12:13 am based on the clock I saw on the way here."

"Man, your watch is useless."

"Hey, that's a gift from Shawn."

"I know, I was there."

"Let's get back on topic before I grill for that 'congrats, you're now a year closer to death crap'." he chided and then show his open palm "So I went to the hospital and sure enough, some victims stayed there to try and warn possible victims of the man, and clearly, no one can hear them, but they're still trying nonetheless.

"As for the daughter, she's at the jail cell staying by her father." he added "I went to all of them and one of them actually followed the man after the recent victim and managed to get the address written down on a ripped piece of their clothing."

"Won't-"

"It'll mend back magically or naturally, whatever, don't question the logic of this god-forsaken world."

"Another problem, unlike you, I can't see what's in your hand, I can't see ghosts or astral things apart from you."

"I'll read it to you." he offered "Make sure to change your handwriting so they won't know it's you."

Shawn POV

We woke up early again today for early morning training after 2 hours of workout, we are to wash up and change at the station, we then had our dirty clothes washed at the station's washing machine and let them dry in the back.

It seems that there's some sort of commotion, after asking around, apparently, we received an anonymous letter sent to us this morning. It's addressed as 'For my father', and that's it, but what's strange is that the person living at the address closely resembles the sketch we drew a while back concerning the case of the death of the daughter of the man we caught yesterday.

The suspect in question lives in another prefecture though, so it'll take quite a while to finally capture him, but what's strange is that no one can figure out how the letter arrived at the station, no sight of anyone dropping it off, no footprints, and no fingerprints on the letter.

Is this man working for some bigger organization and now their top brass are sacrificing him to hide their connections? That is what Detective Fuyuko thinks at least.

Hana Fuyuko, she's a graduate of Tortoise Academy, and she's the sole witch of this station. She's 31 years old, about 167cm tall, she got dark brown hair and light brown-colored eyes. Her rank is Detective and she mostly does detective work rather than go out and intercept angels or other magical beings unless it's an emergency.

For today, the captain is assigning us to be her assistant and just do whatever she orders. This post is heavily involved in police work, and it is definitely helpful for those who want to work in the police force in the future. I do dream of working in the police force after my prime, I can't fight in level 6 danger zones for all of my life.

"Percy, please go to Satou and help me gather these listed files." she then handed him a document "Bring them here when you're done, Shawn you follow me to meet up with the man you guys caught yesterday."

"...No one is pressing charges, if anything, people are requesting us to let you go." Ms. Fuyuko briefed "We understand your grief, but just know that you'll still have all this in your record.

"And as for the case regarding your daughter, since you also agree that the picture of the man resembled the one you saw a few months back, you can prove vital in court, so please make sure to not do anything to leave a stain on your record further, we would like you to help testify, and if you're a criminal, your words would hold lesser weight..."

She then listed down many other things as the man was there crying, it seems that we finally found the man he wanted and he was overwhelmed with joy, people are letting him off easy because they know of his condition.

The man was hellbent on revenge yesterday because it seems hopeless and yet everything turned around in one day, he doesn't care about the organization which may or may not exist, all he cared about was getting justice for his daughter and the dream is getting close.

It's really nice to have hope in these times, being attacked by angels everyday sure does a number on us.
