Recruited

3rd Person POV

Oleander or Ollie, had always relished in his position of privilege. With a high-ranking family who held significant influence in the world of magic, he had grown accustomed to having situations manipulated to his advantage.

However, his malicious plans seemed to have met an unforeseen obstacle.

Ollie hatched a devious scheme to sue Perseus Silver indirectly using his family, hoping it would hinder his progress and bring him to his knees. He believed that with the influence of his family and using his uncle's position, he could slow Perseus down and give him an opportunity to finally catch up and prove his superiority once and for all.

If an inferior can reach that level so fast, a superior wizard like himself, the one who was praised by everyone, should be able to do the same. But fate had a different plan in store.

First, he was overjoyed that the Silvers were stranded on the island, it was even better than he ever hoped for. he personally wouldn't wish for death, but the Silvers would be stranded there for a long time, and that would open up spots for his more deserving friends in class.

Only for it all to be crushed when he heard that the rescue attempt went smoothly, and they returned mostly unharmed.

And just as Ollie's uncle, Paul, was continuing to follow his request, news reached the family that Perseus had been approached by one of the legendary 4 kings, an elite group of Sorcerers renowned for their exceptional abilities and revered across the land.

This unexpected turn of events shattered Ollie's hopes and left him in a state of only what he can describe as inferiority, the Queen of Arts, the guild has recruited Perseus, a young student of the academy who hasn't become even a fully licensed wizard, he was recruited to join one of the best guilds in the world.

Realizing that Perseus' affiliation with one of the 4 kings granted him an unparalleled level of protection, Ollie understood the futility of his previous scheme.

Even if Perseus chose to reject the offer from the 4 kings, Ollie's chances of achieving his desired outcome had been irreversibly diminished. Perseus is in the spotlight, a spotlight that no one like him should touch.

Realizing the futility of his actions, Ollie found himself trapped in a predicament he could not escape. The supernatural forces at play had turned the tables, leaving him stripped of his influence, a situation that he would have never foreseen.

With his previous schemes rendered impotent, Paul advised him that they are left with no choice but to retreat, he hated that, and he never retreats.

Ollie was in his uncle's office and there was visible frustration on his face as he still try to convince his uncle to pursue the case.

Across from him, his high-ranking uncle, Paul Maddox. a man of authority and connections within the UPF, regarded him with a mixture of concern and curiosity.

"Oleander, I understand your desire to teach that insolent Silver a lesson," Paul said, "But we must carefully consider the consequences of pursuing this case. It's not as easy as it may seem. Even if he rejects the offer, they will still eye him for a long time."

"But Uncle Paul, we have the power and resources to crush him!" Ollie argued, "He can undermine our authority and influence, a commoner coming from the background of nobodies, if he rises to the top, great families like ours will bleed."

"Yes, we possess influence, but remember, this isn't just any ordinary case." Paul sighs, "I've been told that Perseus has now been personally contacted by the queen herself, it means that it wasn't a scouting officer that sent that letter, but the queen wanted him within their ranks.

"It doesn't matter if he will be their lowest-ranked wizard, Frida, and her guild are too powerful of a risk. If we proceed, we will not just be going against some attorney of the academy but also the guild behind his back, we will risk tarnishing our reputation, not to mention drawing their attention and potential wrath."

"But if we back down now, won't it make us appear weak?" Ollie asked, "Our family is one of the oldest families of sorcerers in the world, we produced many level 9s and served humanity against the angels."

"Not necessarily. Sometimes, strength lies in choosing our battles wisely. We should divert our resources towards endeavors that truly align with our long-term goals, one of which is you, a young talented wizard." Paul answered.

"How would they even retaliate?"

"I don't know." Paul answered honestly, "But I do know that the 4 kings possess abilities and connections far beyond our comprehension. If we provoke them, they could respond in ways we can't predict, especially if it's from Calliope Frida, she's the queen of unpredictability, stay away for, opportunities will always come before those who are patient."

Perseus POV

Simmons nudged me and showed me several clauses on the paper, apparently the contract is revised and there were many new conditions on the paper where he then explained some of them.

"But one in particular...well in simple terms, it could benefit Shawn as well." he said.

"What?" Shawn exclaimed.

"If Perseus were to accept the contract, this case will take effect and benefit you. I'll put it in simpler terms for you to understand if you graduate as a Class A student, you'll be sent a contract offer as well, and if you fall out of Class A, as long as you show promise, the guild will still give you a contract offer."

"I started off as a Class A student but I graduated as a Class C student, you know." Frida chimed in, "Just because you're in class A and offered great privileges, it doesn't mean that you'll be successful. Well, Perseus, this is an opportunity of a lifetime, will you sign it?"

"Hah...you really left me no choice."

I then turned to my Dad, I left him my pen because I don't want to just sign it recklessly, and I would need his approval, nothing needed to be said as he then handed me my pen.

"Where do I sign?"
