Lorena's Confession

Miguel sat quietly on the train, his mind racing with excitement and nervousness all at once. He had just been recruited to join a secret Mexican spearman unit, and he couldn't wait to embark on his first mission. But little did he know, his childhood friend and fellow lumberjack, Lorena, was about to make a big confession.

Lorena burst onto the train, out of breath and clearly flustered. "What took you so long?" Miguel asked, not realizing the impact of his words.

"I...I had to say goodbye to my family," Lorena replied, still catching her breath. But what she really wanted to say was, "I came to join...you. Miguel, I want to join the secret Mexican spearman unit."

Miguel's eyes widened in surprise. "Lorena, are you serious?"

"Yes," she said firmly. "I've been training in secret for months, and I'm ready to fight for our country. I can't stay behind while you go off on dangerous missions."

Miguel was both impressed and worried for Lorena's safety. "Lorena, this isn't a game. It's dangerous work, and the risks are high."

"I know that," she said solemnly. "But I have to do my part. I can't let fear hold me back."

Miguel nodded, understanding her determination all too well. "Okay,...Miguel leaned forward in his chair, looking intently at Lorena. "Can I ask you something?" he said, his voice serious.

Lorena turned to face him, her expression softening as she saw the concern in his eyes. "Of course," she replied, her tone gentle.

"Why are you so overprotective of me?" Miguel asked, his voice quiet but insistent. "I mean, I know I have Asperger's, and I appreciate that you want to look out for me, but sometimes it feels like you won't let me do anything on my own."

Lorena sighed, her gaze dropping to her hands. "I'm sorry if it feels that way," she said softly. "It's just that...you're important to me, Miguel. More important than anything else. And I worry that if I'm not careful, something might happen to you."

Miguel frowned, not quite understanding. "But why?" he asked. "I mean, I know we're going to get married in the future, but that doesn't mean you have to be so protective of me now."

Lorena looked up, her eyes meeting his. "It's not just because we're going to be married," she said. "It's because I care about you. I care about you a lot, Miguel. And I want to make sure that you're safe and happy."

Miguel nodded. Lorena and Miguel They were on their way to the Confederate States of America to visit an old friend named Vasily, who they had heard had been in a fierce battle with two infamous Confederate sharpshooters named Henry and Rocky.

As the train chugged along, Lorena turned to Miguel. "I'm so excited to see Vasily again," she said. "But I'm also a little nervous about these sharpshooters. Vasily is tough, but if they were able to beat him, they must be incredibly skilled."

Miguel nodded in agreement. "I've heard that Henry and Rocky are some of the best sharpshooters in the Confederate army. They've caused a lot of trouble for the Union soldiers."

Lorena leaned back in her seat, staring out the window as the scenery whizzed by. "I just hope that Vasily's new rifle, the Berdan 2, will give him an edge in case he runs into them again. It's supposed to be the first rifle that uses a brass casing, which is pretty high-tech for this time period."

As the train pulled into the station, the two lover gathered their belongings and made their way to meet Vasily. They had been looking forward to this moment for weeks, and their excitement was palpable as they stepped off the train.

Vasily greeted them with a warm smile and a hug. "Welcome, my dears," he said. "It's so good to see you both again."

Miguel and Lorena thanked Vasily for his hospitality and for the recommendation for the job. It was a dangerous job, but Miguel was eager to prove himself and make a difference.

"This is my most important mission yet," Miguel said, his voice filled with determination. "We need to catch slave Rocky and give her back to James, her owner."

Vasily nodded his head in agreement. "Yes, that's a difficult task," he said. "But I have faith in you, Miguel. You're a brave and skilled warrior, and you have Lorena by your side."

Lorena smiled at Vasily's words, feeling proud of her partner. She knew that Miguel was a force to be reckoned with, and she would do everything in her power to support him on this mission.

As they walked towards Vasily's wagon, Miguel couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. He had first met Vasily when he was just a baby, and the old man had always been like an uncle to him. "How many times do I have to tell you to call me Uncle?" Vasily joked, ruffling Miguel's hair affectionately.

Miguel laughed, feeling grateful for Vasily's presence in his life. With his uncle's guidance and support, he knew that he could accomplish anything. And with Lorena by his side, he had all the love and strength he needed to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
