The Wallfacer Smile

"It's really over this time, isn't it?"

The sociologist finished speaking, and the car stopped. After sitting in the car and being silent for a long time, Renault finally asked.

Renault's voice trembled a little. Even as strong as he is, it is difficult to accept that the hope that just appeared has been wiped out. Strong people can accept failure, but it is difficult to accept it when they finally ignite hope after failure and then kill it again.

Renault has always believed that what he was doing was absolutely right. He has always believed that the sociologist will succeed, and for this reason, he has carried out all his seemingly wrong orders.

Facts have proved that he did not choose the wrong path. The idea of the sociologist can indeed save humanity. However, this idea was still a step too late, and it is now irreversible.

Is there anything more uncomfortable than making the right choice but being a step too late?

The sociologist also fell silent. He sat in the hovercar and could not make a sound for a long time. However, he came to his senses before Renault. He reached out his hand to hold the hover car and continued to drive.

"At this point, there is only one way. We go to the United Nations and use my status as an angel, which is now considered by the whole world, to restore Rey Diaz's plan. If the Trisolarans really come, we will destroy the solar system."

This plan was considered unfeasible by the Trisolarans... There was hesitation on Renault's face. Suddenly, he thought of something, "You are doing this to save the world, right?"

"Yes, of course."

What answered him was a smile: this smile appeared many times in this movie. Every time the sociologist wanted to have fun in the past, he would give this smile when faced with Renault's doubts.

Similarly, several other Wallfacers also had such smiles on their faces in front of the media. They smile like this all the time in public. Their smiles mean deception, and what they say is not the truth.

This is the smile of a Wallfacer. This means deceiving the Trisolarans. Sophons are everywhere, so humans need to cover themselves with a smile.

Tomoko couldn't understand this smile, but Renault could understand it, and the audience could understand it even more.

If there is such a moment in the movie as the most handsome moment for a sociologist, then this is definitely it.

Throughout the movie, the image of the sociologist is a cynical one, and many of his smiles mean deception. His theory is more of a guess. Although it is undeniable that he is a very charming person, his entire life, he has always been an unreliable pronoun in people's eyes.

Playboy, liar, self-serving person, incorrigible.

Although people have been embarrassed to say these comments, this is the kind of person he is. But now, people have discovered that even a smile representing deception can be very charming.

Compared with everyone else, he is wiser and more persistent.

Taylor collapsed after his plan failed, and Rey Diaz chose to go home and was stoned to death. Hines can't be said to have completely failed, but it doesn't help.

When everyone, even a strong-willed guy like Renault, would be discouraged at this time, but only the sociologist, after failure, immediately cheered up.

His talents and abilities are extremely inadequate compared to those of politicians and successful people. However, compared to those people, his psychological endurance is superior.

Moreover, he may already have a new plan, but no one knows it yet.

The audience is also speculating on his plan. At this point in the movie, it is actually coming to an end. The introduction of the dark forest theory is equivalent to announcing the most important theory in this movie, so it will naturally come to an end.

However, the war at this time has also reached the point where it can only be seen. Humans have seen through what the Trisolarans are afraid of, but the Trisolarans also rely on their own technology to block the possibility of human beings broadcasting to the universe.

The sociologist says he wants to restore Rey Diaz's plan, but the movie also makes it clear that humans cannot accomplish such a plan.

If you just look at it this way, it seems that humans can no longer resist. However, the sociologist's smile ignited hope in the audience's hearts again.

At this time, people remembered a problem mentioned at the beginning: Trisolaris people have no concept of strategy, and their war methods are like those of six-year-old children, with no merit.

This point seems to have no meaning in the face of the suppressive power of the droplet. However, here, the sociologist's smile allows people to see his power again.

The smile of the Wallfacer was still synonymous with hypocrisy in the first half of the story, but at this time, it has become the last hope of mankind.

Soon, he came to the United Nations, where he announced his plan to the United Nations: he needed to increase the stock of nuclear weapons on Mercury again and prepare to start experiments.

The United Nations quickly adopted such an idea with Hines's support. For them, they are now facing despair. For them, as long as it can give them a reason to persist, an idea to prevent society from being turbulent, this is enough.

Compared with the arrival of aliens, the unrest on Earth is more terrifying. Faced with such a social situation, perhaps what the people on earth need is not a sure-win method but a major project that occupies their energy.

As for saying that it was impossible for humans to complete such an experiment ten years ago... who cares? The situation couldn't get any worse.

People's fear created the sociologist's astonishing prestige, and his incredible prestige also created the possibility of the plan being passed and the intensity of its implementation.

The remaining spaceships on the Earth have been stopped, and all the nuclear weapons on the Earth have been concentrated. Humanity is once again transporting nuclear weapons into the universe.

All preparations seem to be going on in an orderly manner. It appears that human beings can really defeat the outside world by relying on these.

The Trisolaran people responded by sending nine droplets again. They don't care what humans have done; they are just executing their plans.

One droplet is enough to destroy the entire fleet of the Earth. This time, nine are sent, which is completely despairing.

The sociologist immediately made arrangements for this. He requested to use nuclear bombs throughout the outer solar system in order to create cosmic dust that will help detect, but not prevent, the arrival of these droplets.

This idea was implemented without hesitation - the entire Earth devoted all its efforts to doing this.

Anyway, for humans, the situation cannot get worse. With a large number of nuclear weapons being transported into space, is it necessary to care about what they do?

His actions temporarily calmed down the humans, but the calm humans soon raised their own questions: Are these plans really feasible? Are these plans really capable of resisting aliens?

People seem to have forgotten they were helpless and embarrassed not long ago, once again questioning the sociologist.

This time, they asked the sociologist to speak clearly about his thoughts at the United Nations General Assembly.

Finally, the sociologist has returned to the United Nations General Assembly after a long absence. He stood on top of the venue, in this place where Rey Diaz and Hines's plan was revealed, in this place where the whole world once questioned him.

Here, his colleagues had failed, and now it was his turn.

"This time, I do have something to say, but what I want to say is not for you but for the Trisolaran people.

In the past three hundred years, you have been despising us. Now, it is time for you to face us.

I have the same equipment as Rey Diaz. The positions of the nuclear bombs have been arranged in such a way that the cosmic dust pattern created by their detonation will reveal Trisolaris' location to all observers.

At that time, the solar system will become a beacon in the universe. Shining brightly in the whole universe."

The sociologist announced his plan's true purpose, which excited the audience again. Sure enough, his idea was not to simply commit suicide nor to simply rely on these meaningless tasks to prevent humanity from chaos.

His idea had a deeper level.

He used the opportunity of his job to deceive the aliens. Right under the eyes of the aliens, he completed a great counter-killing plan.

"Now, you must appear here. Otherwise, I will commit suicide. We have endured your contempt for a long time. Now, you must learn to respect."

His words were loud and decisive. The breath echoed in the hall. And in the sound of his words, the air finally began to change.

In front of everyone, Tomoko unfolded.

After years of struggle, the Trisolarans surrendered to humans for the first time. They are no longer invisible to human beings. In the highest authority of human beings, they were called out by a human and obeyed them.

In this war, humanity finally won.

The movie also comes to an end. However, at the end of the movie, when the sociologist meets his wife again, people no longer pay attention to it. At this moment, the audience is thinking more about the characters, thoughts, and those vast things in the plot, scene, and something profound.

This is a work worth thinking about and is a great work.
