"Senior brother, give me this book." Minos spoke with unparalleled confidence, not at all worried that he'd regret this decision.
The man seemed to notice his confidence, however he had seen this same confidence in all the fools who bought this book, so naturally he didn't think much of Minos.
"It's your grave kid, but don't say I didn't warn you, but the price is the same as the Lock Breaking Pill. Don't think this is unfair, even low-level talismans can sell for around 10 contribution points, hence this is a golden goose." He said.
Minos naturally understood the logic, hence he didn't argue. After swiping his contribution card, he watched as his original 500 points disappeared, leaving a disappointed 8 points left on the card.
This card is something all disciples in the Green Barrel Sect have, and it acts as a sort of I.D card, and it was necessary to get anything done within the sect.
Everytime Minos finished his daily chores, he would go to the Deacon Elder in charge of the handyman disciples and he would get an additional point.
Minos had always been fascinated by how the card worked, unfortunately he was scared of breaking it, hence he never dared to tinker with it too much.
Finishing the exchange, Minos wrapped the book up tightly in his handyman disciple robes, almost running the entire journey back.
Given how unpopular this book was, Minos wasn't too afraid of getting robbed, however he still took the necessary precautions, but he was mostly running out of excitement. He couldn't wait to crack this book open.
Of course his worries of being robbed were uncalled for. No one was gutsy enough to openly rob in populated areas, they'd at least wait for one to leave the sect or go somewhere remote before doing something.
Minos eventually reached the handyman disciple gathering area, and wasn't far away from his own home, unfortunately before he could get back, he was stopped by Gantel.
"Hey kid, slow down for a second. Why is your robe bulging? You got something good in there? Common, let me see" Gantel spoke before reaching out.
"I do have something bulging in my robe, but it's only for women to see." Minos said as he took a step back, avoiding Gantel's hand.
"What does that mean?" Gantel clearly wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, hence he didn't understand. Eventually one of the goons beside him eventually whispered into his ear, causing his face to go red.
"You little bastard!" Gantel shouted, and was about to swing out in anger, fortunately his goon caught him by the shoulder at the last second.
"Boss relax, theirs to many people here. If someone snitches to the deacon, we're going to be in trouble."
Gantel's fist stopped as he heard this, taking a deep breath before saying. "You're lucky this time little bastard, but you'd better not let me catch you alone."
Minos didn't take the threat to heart, ignoring Gantel's harsh eyes. He walked past him and continued the rest of his journey home.
Normally Minos wouldn't have reacted in such a way, but having just bought the book on "Talisman Foundations," he had a new confidence in himself, and no longer planned on being pushed around by Gantel.
Besides, Minos wasn't worried that Gantel would try to sneak into his hut at night. He had laid traps all around, so if anything he'd be more than happy to let Gantel be his test dummy.
The day was still young at this point, hence Minos wasted no time. He pulled "Talisman Foundations" out of his robe, before laying it down on his stiff wooden bed.
Minos crossed his legs before flipping open the first page. It didn't take long before the words started to mesmerize Minos, making the somewhat dull immortal world he had come to know seem far grander.
"Talismans are ways of communicating with the heavenly path. Each talisman stroke conveys a different message to the heavens, and as these strokes combine together, they form a talisman. To get started, one requires three basic tools, those being a talisman brush, talisman paper, and demonic beast blood, to act as the ink. It is said that divine talisman masters use comets as brushes, planets as paper, and the energy that permeates the universe as their ink!"
