Running around the sect, Minos began activating explosion after explosion, sending off massive shock waves and vibrations through the sect.
"What the hell is happening?"
"Is it an earthquake?"
"Maybe, go call the elders, see what they have to say!"
The large explosion naturally caught everyone off guard, sending the sect into a panic as people ran around looking for answers.
What they didn't realize was that a large battle had already started within the mausoleum, but with noise and vibrations coming from all directions, they didn't notice anything suspicious.
…
Meanwhile, within the mausoleum, the patriarch couldn't help but cough out a mouthful of blood, having just been sneak attacked by 'Ikki'
"What are you doing?" The patriarch said with a fierce look in his eyes, never having expected Ikki to suddenly attack him.
Venix didn't even respond to the accusations, instead attacking fiercely with a Six-Moon weapon.
Seeing as he was getting no response, the patriarch stopped talking, instead returning the attack with his own weapon.
After a quick back and forth, the patriarch was shocked to find that their strength was about equal, which made absolutely no sense.
What he didn't know was that the Twelfth Life Lock was the Limit Lock, and once you broke it, you'd gain the ability to temporarily remove your limits, bursting out with 10x your normal power.
With such a tremendous boost, not to mention the fact that the patriarch was already severely injured by the previous sneak attack, the strength difference became minimal.
Venix was also powered by his tremendous rage, the anger of his family being slaughtered constantly replaying in his head with every attack.
The rage boosted his power even more, and with each attack, Venix forced the patriarch further and further back.
As if he wasn't content, Venix suddenly pulled a pill from his spatial ring, tossing it in his mouth and quickly absorbing its medicinal powers.
The unknown pill once again doubled Venix's power, allowing him to finally get an edge on the patriarch.
The patriarch fought back as hard as he could, but unfortunately he was just too outclassed by this point, and his injuries were getting worse.
"Damn it, you asked for this!" The patriarch said, as he pointed his finger directly towards Venix, seemingly preparing for an attack.
As an Inner Heaven Realm cultivator, the patriarch could naturally use Nux in his attacks, unfortunately his control of Nux was still poor, so each attack usually took a second to prepare.
With Venix pushing him so hard, he decided to just sacrifice a little, giving Venix an opening while also preparing his own attack.
Venix would naturally not waste the opportunity, so he slashed out towards the patriarch's left arm, severing it in a single swipe.
However by this time, the Nux energy on his right finger had finally formed, creating a small cloud of blue energy.
The cloud quickly condensed down into what looked like a blue plasma bubble, before shooting off at a tremendous speed and slamming into Venix.
The plasma bubble was like a mini-sun, burning a hole straight through Venix as if his flesh didn't even exist.
Despite already ripping through Venix, the Nux ball seemed to have plenty of energy left, burning a three meter deep hole into the ground before finally dissipating.
Venix couldn't help but look down at the baby-fist sized hole in his gut with slight shock, never having expected Nux to be so powerful.
The patriarch couldn't help but let out a contented laugh, feeling as if his sacrifice was worth it.
"You really thought you won, didn't you?" Venix said with a slight laugh.
"Huh, what do you mean?" The patriarch said, his heart dropping.
"I wasn't originally going to use this pill, given how rare it is, but to kill you, it's worth it." Venix said, as he downed another pill.
This was a Death Reversal Pill, and just like the name said, it was capable of healing even the deadliest wounds, reversing death.
Venix only had gotten one of these pills from his inheritance, but he didn't care, he simply wanted the patriarch dead that badly.
Watching as the wound on Venix's stomach slowly sealed back up, the patriarch's face went pale as his body collapsed, the tremendous bleeding having already drawn him close to death's door.
Looking at the half dead patriarch on the floor, Venix didn't bother playing with him anymore, just sending out a final slash and ending his life for good.
"Mother, father, I've avenged you! Please forgive me for taking so long…" Venix said as he collapsed on his knees, crying into the blood soaked earth.
Despite his emotions still being in chaos, Venix forcefully pulled his body from the ground, knowing that his revenge wasn't yet complete.
There were still those elders, and all the disciples that had partaken in the extermination, all of them needed to die!
Wiping the tears from his face, Venix left the mausoleum, leaving behind the headless patriarch to rot with the others.
…
Back at the sect, Minos was walking around as he looked at the chaos. Checking the time, he felt like Venix should be just about done by now.
Of course there was always the possibility that Venix failed and was counter-killed, but Minos didn't even consider that, having plenty of confidence in Venix's strength, and more than that, his fortune.
With another vibration from his shirt, Minos couldn't help but let out a big smile, knowing that Venix had succeeded.
Now was the time to reap his rewards, so Minos headed towards the patriarch's mansion at the center of the city as he waited patiently for Venix.
His wait didn't last long, and after only five minutes or so, Vixen showed up, a calm smile on his face, slight blood on his robe.
"From that smile, I assume everything went well?" Minos asked with a smirk.
"Of course, the bastard never even saw it coming. Now let's loot this place quickly, before the elders catch on. Follow me." Venix replied with a smile, as he guided Minos deeper into the house.
"It's a good thing he told me where the treasury was hidden before I killed him, or else we may have had to go back empty handed." Venix said, as he reached a particular spot in the massive mansion before stomping onto the ground.
With Venix's incredible power, the floor instantly caved in, revealing a small tunnel leading deep into the earth.
After activating a shining talisman, the two headed down into the dark abyss, walking for a moment before hitting a large wall made of a special metal.
"This wall is made of Dark Ocean Steel, which you can only harvest deep undersea. Apparently it took the Thousand Split Sword Sect hundreds of years just to save up for this one wall." Venix explained.
"Dark Ocean Steel? Let me give it a try." Minos said with interest, before unsheathing a regular sword and attacking with a Moon Tempest Sword, which only left behind a tiny centimeter deep scratch.
"Amazing!" Minos couldn't help but exclaim after seeing the results.
"Only the patriarch's seal can successfully open this door." Venix said with a smile, before pulling a special seal from his robe.
After pulling the seal out, Venix placed it into a small opening at the front of the wall. The seal fit into the hole perfectly, causing the Dark Ocean Steel wall to slightly begin rotating, revealing the treasury's insides.
"Like I promised, everything here is yours. I've already gotten what I wanted, so I'll keep guard upstairs" Venix said, before heading back up the tunnel.
"Don't mind if I do." Minos laughed, before heading inside and taking a look at all the treasures.
The place wasn't too large, but everything here was incredibly valuable. There were dozens of pill bottles, adding up to hundreds of pills.
There were treasures of all sorts, from swords to shields, assortments of high grade talismans, there was even a single spatial ring.
There was also a bookshelf filled to the brim with original copies of all the techniques the Thousand Split Sword Sect had gathered over the years.
With a quick glance, there were at least a dozen Three-Moon grade techniques, and there were even a couple Four-Moon grade ones, meant for the Inner Heaven Realm.
Minos felt like a kid in a candy shop, surrounded by so many choices, but unlike the child who had to pick, Minos could take it all.
Without further ado, he stuffed everything unceremoniously into his spatial ring, filling it to the brim, and leaving the treasury completely empty.
However, arguably the most expensive treasure was still left behind, the Dark Ocean Steel wall. Normally, given Minos's strength, it would be impossible to do anything, but Minos didn't need to rely on his strength since he had something stronger.
Pulling out his Heaven-Sundering Sword, Minos got to work cutting the large wall into smaller pieces, storing them into the second spatial ring he had just gotten.
