Onald's Score

The others also looked on curiously, having never seen such a strange contraption before in their life.

However among the crowd, one person was looking the hardest, and that was naturally Onald.

He was naturally among those who wanted to enter that secret realm, but who would've expected that when he came to take the exam, he'd find that a random acquaintance of his was the examiner.

Not to mention he was well aware that Minos had only been in the guild for a few months, which made his 'promotion' even more incredible.

Seemingly realizing that the two of them were now on completely different levels, Onald slightly shaked his head before heading off to the talisman exam room, not confident in his willpower.

Minos naturally noticed Onald, but now wasn't the time to talk, so he just watched as he left before he focused back on his exam.

Pasting the Gravity Talisman onto the chest of the first test taker, he activated his infinity stairs, before standing aside and watching.

While Mortal Renewal Cultivators didn't have infinite stamina, their stamina is essentially endless in the eyes of mortals, and a normal set of stairs would have to reach the clouds before it could exhaust them.

Minos didn't plan on waiting hours for each test-taker, which is where the Gravity Talisman came in, making it so their stamina drained exponentially faster.

With the Gravity Talisman, it didn't take long for the Seventh-Lock Layer Cultivator to begin panting heavily, the exhaustion beginning to get to him.

Another ten minutes passed, and eventually he collapsed completely, panting heavily as he laid lifelessly on the floor.

Writing the amount of steps he took compared to his cultivation, Minos called in the next test-taker while having a few people drag away the exhausted man's body so he could recover in a better place.

Having seen the first man's performance, the second one gulped slightly before stepping up onto the stairs and beginning.

His cultivation was even lower then the first man, so he collapsed faster, but he still ended up receiving a higher score.

This was naturally because Minos compared the results to the cultivation, otherwise those with high cultivation would easily win, making the exam pointless.

With two people down, the nature of the test was fully understood, and the remaining testers quickly reached zero.

Looking at all the people laying on the floor to recover, Minos walked up to the front and cleared his throat before talking.

"You've all passed the first part of the exam, the will power portion, but there is still the courage portion remaining."

"The courage test won't require any physical strength, so for those of you who still haven't fully recovered, don't worry."

"I've got a special Illusion Talisman here and the goal is simple, the faster you can break out, the better."

"Is everyone ready?" Minos asked.

"Ready!" The crowd quickly shouted back.

"Good, then let's begin." Minos said, before walking person to person, pasting the Illusion Talisman's onto their bodies before activating it.

With Minos's split souls and incredible brain power, his sense of time was impeccable, and he didn't need any sort of special tool in order to record how quickly they could escape.

He could even remember the exact time each examinee began, making so the times were completely fair.

Every time someone broke out, Minos would quickly calculate how long it took them before writing the number down into his scorebook.

The nature of this test made it much faster, not to mention the Illusion Talisman Minos used was only at the Three-Moon Grade, so even the weakest cultivator here could break out of it within ten minutes.

Of course, like usual, Minos took a person's cultivation into regard before calculating their real results, making it fair for everyone.

"So, did any of us pass?" One man couldn't help but ask as Minos was writing down the final result.

"You'll all know your results tomorrow, for now the day is still young, so I'd recommend you head out and try some other tests to strengthen your odds."

Hearing Minos's words, everyone quickly agreed before dispersing, once again leaving Minos alone by his strange staircase.

But just like he said, the day was young, and as some people got done with the other tests, they decided to hit up Minos's area just in case.

With more test-takers, Minos quickly got back into the rhythm, spending the rest of the day testing hundreds of people.

With only one set of stairs, testing so many people would be impossible, so it was fortunate that Minos already predicted such a thing, so he quickly tapped his spatial ring, revealing a few more sets of his 'infinity stairs.'

As the sun finally set completely, Minos called an end to the test, letting the final few test-takers finish up before putting his infinity stairs back into his spatial ring.

Dismissing everyone, Minos headed back to the guild while looking down at his scorebook and comparing the results.

"Minos, wait up!" A voice suddenly shouted from behind him, waking Minos up from his thoughts.

"Onald? Long time no see." Minos replied with a smile.

"Feels like a lifetime! It's only been a few months yet you've already gotten on the Guild Master's goodside, how the hell did you do that?" Onald asked, his tone a little envious.

"Just a little luck." Minos answered.

"Luck, huh? I wish I had that kind of luck. Anyways, how have you been?"

"As you can see, I've been pretty good." Minos laughed.

"That's good. Hey, I know this may be a bit presumptuous, but seeing as you're on the board of examiners, is it possible for you to check my result early. I honestly don't think I can wait till the morning." Onald asked, his fingers a bit fidgety.

"That shouldn't be a problem. What tests did you take?" Minos asked.

"Talisman making, wilderness experience, and medicine." Onald said.

"I can understand avoiding strength, but why did you avoid my test as well?" Minos asked curiously.

"Common man, I'm a pampered noble, what kind of willpower could I have?" Onald said, both joking and being completely serious.

"Fair enough. Just wait for me in the lobby, I'll come see you in a minute."

"Thanks again!"

Nodding, Minos headed upstairs towards the meeting room, finding all the examiners already sitting there, shifting their own tests and marking them.

"Jebron, you mind checking for the name Onald and what his score is?" Minos asked after finding Jebron.

"Let me just finish marking up these tests and I'll let you know." Jebron replied.

Thanking him, Minos also got to work finishing up the results for his own test, quickly getting the top twenty.

Just as he finished, Jebron was also done, walking towards Minos with his long list in hand.

"Onald, right? According to this, he scored 83rd." Jebron said.

"83rd? Better than expected." Minos said with a slight laugh, after all, Onald was a noble, so what would he know about the wilderness.

Of course most nobles have some education in this regard just in case, but how can just listening to other people's wisdom ever compare to your own?

After checking with Jebron, Minos politely asked Miryum and Antios, who both had no reason to reject.

But unfortunately for Onald, he failed all three tests, his best score only being a 41st in medical knowledge, which slightly surprised Minos.

But without reaching the 20th mark, it was pointless, so Minos could only feel some slight pity for Onald before heading back downstairs to tell him the result.

Hearing the news, Onald was naturally a little disappointed, but having expected such a result, he wasn't to devastated.

"Honestly, failing might actually be a blessing for you, after all, this unknown realm may just be a death trap." Minos explained.

"But you're going, aren't you?" Onald quickly responded.

"But I'm not a noble, so I can only fight for every chance." Minos smirked, causing Onald to let out a laugh, his mood a little better.

"You're right, I'm privileged in the fact that I don't have to fight for this opportunity in the way you do, but I still wish you all the luck."

"Thanks for the kind words."

With that, the two smiled before shaking one more time and saying goodbye. After watching Onald leave, Minos headed back upstairs.

Walking to the Guild Master's office, Minos gave the door a slight knock before handing his results in.

The Guild Master seemed quite busy at the moment with all the other tests, so after taking Minos's he dismissed him.
