Whispers In the Abyss

The entrance to the mine loomed before them like an open maw, swallowing all light and sound. As Ethan led his friends deeper into its dark and decaying bowels, their eyes strained to adjust to the impenetrable darkness. The ground beneath their feet was uneven, treacherous with damp earth and scattered debris, forcing them to tread cautiously.

"Ugh, this place smells like a wet dog rolled in mud," Jessica complained, her voice echoing off the walls.

Ethan nodded, though he doubted anyone could see him. "Just stay close, everyone. We don't want to get separated down here."

Their footsteps, muffled by the moist terrain, resonated through the mine's tunnels, creating a disorienting cacophony of echoes. Though they were all together, the darkness seemed intent on isolating each of them, wrapping around them like a suffocating blanket. Ethan couldn't shake the feeling that they weren't alone, that someone, or something, was watching them from the shadows.
