Lucy POV
The Alphas have left, leaving me alone with Asa. I don't know what to expect from him since we just met. This will be interesting.
I'm still sitting on the navy blue soft bed, trying to keep my thoughts away from my pack. Asa now knows what pack I came from...
what if they do something to them? Sure, they mistreated me, but I don't want anything to happen to them.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts when Asa says, "What are you thinking so hard about, Lu?"
Still having my notepad, I write down, "Lu?"
"Yes, Lu. It's your name but shorter. And the perfect nickname I could think of!" He is practically beaming with pride at the nickname, but I'm not impressed.
I roll my eyes, but I secretly like that he gave me a nickname. This means he intends to keep me around.
"It's getting late, how about we go to bed? I'll sleep on the couch if that makes you more comfortable... even though I don't want to," he pouts at me, trying to persuade me into sleeping in the same bed as him.
I feel bad taking his bed, but he's the one who offered so who am to argue? I point at the couch, letting him know he's sleeping there.
His mouth turns down even more, and a quick flash of hurt passes over his face before he covers it with an indifferent mask. I quickly write down, "Sorry, please don't be mad." I feel an ache in my chest, wanting to be close to him.
But I'm not ready yet.
He reads the paper and his look softens, "Don't worry, Lu. I'm not mad, just a little sad. Maybe tomorrow we can discuss this again." He sends me an award winning smirk, before grabbing a pillow and blanket out of his
closet. He sets up his makeshift bed,
leaving me to head to the bathroom to relieve myself and brush my teeth. Asa walks in, and I point to a toothbrush, silently asking if he has a extra toothbrush I can use.
"Yea there is one here under the sink," he leans down and opens the dark wood cabinet, and stands back up with a packaged toothbrush. He opens it up for me like the gentleman he is, and
hands it to me with a bow. I chuckle at his antics, and proceed to brush my teeth. Asa brushes his too, and once we are finished, we spit and clean up.
We walk back to the room, our shoulders occasionally bushing against each other, the sparks exploding down my arm. shoulders occasionally bushing against each other, the sparks
exploding down my arm.
I climb into bed, and try to sleep. It's hard when his scent is so suffocating. He smells like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
It's heavenly, and I just lay there inhaling his scent over and over again.
Soon I'm dozing, the sound of my mates breathing lulling me to a restless sleep.
****
I wake up from a nightmare, breathing heavy, eyes watering. I was reliving my past, all the horrible things the pack did to me. I look around the room, and faintly see the outline of Asa's body. Not knowing what I'm doing, I get up and tap him on the shoulder, disrupting his sleep.
When I finally realize what I just did, I back away frantically, trembling. What if he gets mad at me? What will he do to me then?
Asa is looking at me with confusion through the dark room.
The only light source being the moon, coming in through a large window over the couch.
"Are you okay, Lu? What's wrong?" Asa asks patiently, seemingly not mad at me for waking him, just worried. I grab the notepad that I sat on the nightstand and write one word,
"Nightmare."
He nods his head in understanding, and I point at myself, then at him on the couch. I try to show that I want to sleep with him, hopefully it will calm my nerves.
Getting what I'm trying to say, Asa scoots over on the large couch which could pass as a bed, and opens his arms up wide. I climb onto the couch, and Asa puts his arms around me comfortingly.
My head rests on his firm, naked chest, and the sparks calm me down.
They radiate off of him, his arm wrapping around me causing me to be enveloped in them.
I snuggle closer into his chest, feeling comfortable for the first time in a long time.
And with that, I finally fall into a restful sleep.
***
I feel a stare on my face, I can feel the eyes looking at me. I slowly open my eyes to see Asa looking down at me. He has a light smile on his face, and seems to be admiring me. I try to get up, but I'm quickly squeezed back into a hard chest. I forgot there was an arm wrapped around me, trapping me close to Asa. I scramble to get away, but soon freeze when I hear an almost silent growl. Oh no, he's mad! I'm going to get hit.
I shrink back away as far as I can go, not wanting to be in his proximity when he blows up.
I hear his beautiful voice say, "Sorry for growling, I just didn't want you to get away. I'm enjoying this."
I slowly nod, accepting his apology. I understand because I'm enjoying this position too.
Forgetting my attempt to flee, I cuddle back into his chest and try to go back to sleep. Because of the nightmare last night, I didn't get much sleep.
"Come on, little mate. It's time to wake up," Asa says softly.
I groan, not wanting to get up. He chuckles lightly, laughing at my reluctance.
I finally push my self up and stumble over to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Brushing my teeth quickly, I walk back in to the room to see Asa just laying on the couch
.
"Hypocrite!" I exclaim angrily.I then realize what I just did.
Asa shoots right up into a sitting position, his eyes wide and shock written on his face.
"You spoke," he states surprise lighting up his features.
I quickly grab my notepad and write,
"I only talk when I feel safe. I guess I feel safe with you."
Asa reads the notepad fast, and looks up to me with a grin on his face. He pulls me into a tight hug and says, "I'm glad you feel safe with me.
Don't ever be afraid to talk, you are safe here."
I'm getting squeezed by him, not being able to breathe.
"Can't Breathe."
Asa lets go of me quickly, and looks down at me like I'm his whole world.
"Your voice is so beautiful. It sounds like a symphony, all working together to
make the most amazing sound"
I look down bashfully, embarrassed at the compliment.
My voice isn't that nice! It's quite average to be honest.
I whisper a quiet, "Thanks," before Asa smiles even wider and goes to brush his teeth.
When he gets back, he grabs my hand and leads me to the kitchen.
We arrive at the kitchen, the Alphas Asa parents and a girl who is the younger version of Asa's mom where already sitted around the counter. The girl by her looks should be almost Asa's age.
Asa our presence known with a loud,
"Whats up?"
I hide behind Asa as the girl squeals, and jumps off her seat and run to me and introduces herself, "Hi! I'm Nadia, this stupid dudes sister."
I nod and wave shyly, and everyone says a loud,
"Awwwww!" I blush a deep red, so embarrassed.
Asa takes the attention away from my blushing self.
"She doesn't speak much so don't expect a response. She does have a notepad so she'll be using that." He explained to his family.
I nod along confirming what he said. I feel relieved that I don't have to try to explain all of this to them. We walk over to the kitchen counter where the others where already sitting and I see pancakes and bacon.
I haven't had a full meal in years, so when Asa hands me my plate, I scarf down my food like my life depends on it.
Everyone stares at me, causing me to blush and slow down.
Light conversation is being made over breakfast, but what scares me is what Asa says to the parents
.
"I need to talk to you guys, alone, regarding Lucy's old pack."
