Chapter 7 Chapter seven

  Asa's POV

Lucy is reluctant to go to school, knowing that her old pack shares the same one as us. She doesn't want to get hurt, but I will make sure no one ever hurts her again.

We wake up and get ready, me dressing in black jeans and a white t-shirt. Lucy dress in dark blue jeans and a black off-shoulder shirt showing off her long slim neck. She is gorgeous. I just stand and stare at her body as she gets dressed, looking at her thin arms and legs. I realize she is underweight, so I'm happy I've been making her eat three meals a day.

We ride in my black truck to school, Lucy admiring the interior and exterior the whole way. Arriving at school, I see my buddies all waiting on me in front

  of the school.

Lucy walks slightly behind my bacj, probably scared of all the students. I hold her hand, squeezing it reassuringly.

I can hear her breathing pick up as she sees people from her former pack, but

no one says anything to her. They just stare and whisper among themselves.

We reach my friends, I introduce them all to Lucy,

"Lucy, this is Eden, Cara's daughter. She will be my beta when I become Alpha. There is also Cory, who is Lana's son. He will be my Gamma. Lastly, there is

  Miller, my future head warrior,"

I explain, "And everyone, this is Lucy, my mate."

They all say hi, and Cory soon starts talking, "Hi Lucy! It's sooo nice to meet you, Asa has been dreaming about meeting you for years. He's already obsessed with you, I can see it in his eyes."

Cory smirks as he says this, trying

to embarrass me. I just tell him a quiet,

  "Shut up."

Lucy squeezes my hand, making me feel better. I look at her and see amusement dancing in her eyes. I'm glad she's enjoying this.

The bell rings, so we head off to class. I made sure to have all our classes be the same so I could protect her. I wouldn't want her getting hurt while I'm not there.

We sit through all the boringly long classes, not having any trouble because the teachers know Lucy doesn't talk. Some Red Claw Pack members try to mistreat Lucy but I quickly put them in their place with a growl.

We walk to lunch, and I see the bitch that poured water on my mate. I know her, she is the other Alpha blood of the school. Her mate, Mark, is the typical bully jock while she acts like she is queen bee.

Lucy's eyes land on them and she hide behind me, not wanting to get bullied. Too late, Maya locked eyes with hee and is coming our way.

"Look everyone, the mute freak is hiding away from us. Pathetic," she spits at a cowering Lucy.

"Shut your loud mouth and mind your own business. No one wants to hear you talk," I say angrily.

Now that our packs are going to war, I can talk to her anyway I want too.

"Whatever, you two are worthless. I'm wasting my breath just speaking to you." As she says this she walks off, leaving Lucy fuming in silence. She must be sick of her after all these years.

Eating lunch goes smoothly, all my friends have a table to ourselves and we laugh at jokes and keep things lighthearted.

Overall, this school day wasn't too bad. But what happens after school is one of the worst things I've ever seen.

  Lucy's POV

We head home, me still in awe at the truck. Everything changes when a strangely familiar girl stumbles out of the forest and into the road, right in front of the moving truck.

Asa slams on the breaks, barely missing the girls body. Wanting to help, I hop out of the truck, and approach the girl slowly. Asa yells to me to come back, that it might not be safe, but I do it anyway.

The girl looks almost dead, her body looking torn up and beaten.

I glance at her face to see pale brown eyes that remind me of one girl.

"Ava?" I ask, gasping at the girl that has saved my life too many times to count.

She runs into my open arms, limping the whole way. I support her body that is about to collapse, holding my only friend up.

She pulls away from the hug, looking into my eyes and says, "I came to warn you. They are after you. They said they would hurt you a lot worse than they hurt me, before this war is over."

That doesn't matter, lets get you safe and healed," I say, the longest sentence I've spoke in a long time.

  "Lucy, do you know this

girl?" Asa finally approaches, and asks with a look of confusion on his face.

"I'm Ava, this silly girl's best friend," Ava says with a pained smirk. I walk her to the truck and she climbs in with a struggle.

Asa and I hop in and he starts driving, rushing to get Ava to the pack doctor. She looks to be on the verge of passing out, blood coating her entire body.

Asa carries her to the pack hospital, and we are rushed to a room. We can't go inside so we head outside of the room, going to the waiting room to wait and see how she is doing.

Asa mindlinks his parents to talk about what happened. They arrive, and quickly we dive into the conversation.

This girl named Ava came from the Red Claw Pack, beaten within and inch of her life. She came with a warning," Asa starts off, holding my hand and squeezing it tightly.

"What was the warning? Is Ava okay?" Ella asks, sadness in her tone.

"They said they would hurt Lucy more than they hurt Ava, before the war is over. They are blatantly targeting her. She isn't safe at school anymore," Asa informs, pulling me closer to him.

Alpha Asher makes a decision, "Lucy will no longer be going to school. She will complete her school online."

I nod, not minding this change. I hated being around people from my old pack, it brought out my anxiety even more.

The doctor, Lana, comes back with news. "Ava has multiple broken ribs, and she has a concussion. She was hit hard in the head when she was getting beaten. She also has lacerations all over her body. She will take a while to heal but she can go home with you guys."

We all nod, happy that she will be okay.

All of us go in to talk to her. Ava is laying on the bed, more conscious than she was before. Her face lights up when she sees me and beckons me over. I smile at her and give her another hug.

Ava is the only person Ive been comfortable enough to talk to, other than Asa and his family.

I used to speak freely around her, but she was forbidden to see me after she saved me for the fifth time. Maya got sick of her standing up for me so she got the alpha to command Ava to not talk to me again. That didn't stop her from helping get me patched up after beatings.

The Alpha command must have been broke when she crossed pack lines.

"How are you feeling?" I ask, Asa and his parents shocked that I spoke so easily.

"Better, just had to get the cuts wrapped up. No big deal, I'm just glad that I got to see you.

The alpha is really mad at you for setting the Royal Pack against them."I nod along, humming.

That's a pretty good reason to be mad at me, but then again they are the ones that kicked me out without any valid reason

"Did they say anything else regarding Lucy?" Alpha Asher asks, curious to see if Ava heard anything else about me.

"Just that when they find her they will torture her then kill her... I think that's about it."
