Chapter 48 CHAPTER 48: A night to remember 2

“THIS IS one of the most valuable paintings that Count Lucille from the U.K. had after his husband died, leaving no lips at all, as the painting never finished when his wife abducted and returned after five years. We will start for two million U.S. dollars.”

My eyes widened when I heard the price mentioned by the auctioneer.

Mister Trevor raised his hand, holding card number nine. “Two million five hundred.”

“Number nine bids for two point five million. Any higher?” the auctioneer said.

“Number nine bids for two point five million. Any higher?” the auctioneer said.

I looked around, and Vincent raised his hand, too. He raised a card. His card number is fifteen. “Three million.”

“Number fifteen bids for three million.”

Vincent raised his number again. “Four million.”

“Number fifteen for four million. Any higher? Going once? Going twice?”

But Mister Trevor doesn’t look like he wanted to lose as he raised his number and bid. “Six million.”
