Four days later, I had to face the inevitable. After the trip to Germany, I did not go back to working at the Riverdon pharmaceutical company. Edward said I should focus on my education and therefore did not have to go back to being his maid unless he really needed my help with something. For the first time since coming to New York, I felt completely relaxed. For the longest time, I had always had work in mind or something else but things seemed to be falling into place, finally. My life was slowing down into a peaceful, quite one that every college student wanted. Edward had paid me for my work so I had money to enjoy some of the finer things of New York. It was time to be a college student not someone stressed out by responsibilities.
