Chapter 29

EVERYTHING felt like it was not real. I looked at my mate as he placed the plate of pasta in front of me. We were having dinner together. It felt wrong to act this normal when just a few hours ago, we were informed that Alpha Oscar’s son was found dead. The whole idea that Charles was the killer was gone. He was telling the truth; he never harmed those other Alphas.

Luke told us that Cameron, Alpha Oscar’s youngest son, was killed the same way that those other Alpha-blooded wolves were. It was such a shock for all of us. We thought that the whole murder problem was done.

“Eat.”

I looked up to Connor to see him staring at me. I nodded and took the fork he offered. I didn’t feel like I had the appetite to continue, but Connor was a health nazi. He always made sure that I ate dinner no matter what. Even when we were not talking, I would find food in the fridge that he had left for me.

“What do you think will happen now?” I asked him as I reached for the glass of water.
