Chapter 42

Connor

AFTER lunch, me and Luke began to go through all of the files that we had for the Alpha murders. I just found out that when my Beta and Tara went to go and see Herman, he confessed to having killed Alpha Kane. But aside from that, they said he wouldn’t say anything anymore. Admitting murder seemed to have taken a lot of his energy.

I looked at the two files that were separated from the rest. Alpha Kane and Philip Graves were already solved. Those two were distractions from the whole picture. But I knew it was Herman Black who catapulted the chain of events.

Now, there remain four murders that lay open. The cases were gnawing on me. Dark Mountains have been attacked twice already. First my father and then another Alpha-blooded member.

“What are their similarities aside from having Alpha blood?” I asked, looking at my Beta who was reading Alpha Adam’s file that was sent to us by Flamed Rue.

“A connection? All packs have members from the Pioneers.”
