Chapter 27 HIS TALE

FLORENCE'S POINT OF VIEW

He let out a deep sigh. "They were dead already."

Silence. I can't choose the right term to describe the tension that rose between the two of us. Dane and I haven't talked about our personal lives yet, that's why I'm surprised with what he said.

I pursed my lips for a moment. "I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked that," I apologized. I can't even look at him because I'm afraid that he is offended with my question.

He laughed and reclined on the chair. "Take a chill pill. I'm fine, so don't worry. Besides, it's been a long time since they died. I'm doing good already," he said.

I sighed peacefully. "Still, I'm sorry for being too nosy."

He breathe out. "Seriously, you didn't offend me in any way. I was just surprised because it's been a long time since I had a conversation with someone regarding my family, not because I was offended."
