Chas’s expression also darkened when he didn’t get a response from Vincent. He grunted, “What? Can’t you recognize the person?”

“I am not sure,” Vincent eventually opened his mouth. “I only assumed he was someone I know.”

Chas chuckled and said sternly, “The address you provided as your house is fake. That house was burned down years ago. Most significantly, no one in that village is familiar with you. Nobody has ever seen you. I need you to tell me who you are and where you came from.”

Vincent showed no sign of panic. He responded calmly, “I haven’t provided a phony address. When I was a small child, my house was set on fire. That fire killed my parents and grandparents. I was the only one who made it out alive, thanks to mom. You should have inquired about the little boy who managed to flee."

His words stunned Chas. He peered at him for a long time, knitting his eyebrows. Vincent’s unwavering gaze compelled him to think that he was telling the truth.
