"Gerald, no... please..." Natalia's strident scream stopped Gerald. He looked up at her, his hands trembling. There was hesitation and fear in his eyes.
"Don’t do this," Natalia implored, shaking her head. "This is your son. You can’t kill him."
"Gerald… she is distracting you," Felix’s words forced Gerald to look away from Natalia. "Don’t listen to her," Felix went on to say. "You are my buddy. You promised me you'd be by my side. You've promised to assist me in avenging my family."
Gerald sniffed and wrinkled his nose as he held the gun with both hands. He tried hard to keep his hands steady. His eyes centered on Jonathan.
"Look at me, Gerald," Natalia cried out. "I know you hate me. But you don’t hate your son. Please let him go. You want to punish me. I will come to you. But let Jonathan go… please…"
"Shut up…" Gerald roared, frustrated.
"What are you waiting for? Shoot him," Felix grunted.
