“Like this?” she asked as she stood on her toes while her arms snaked around my shoulders. Her tiny hand rummaged through my hair at the back, in turn, pulling my face closer to hers. Oh, man… What is she doing to me?

“You’re a fast learner,” I said breathlessly, for my heart was beating erratically, and words just got stuck in my throat.

“And, I have a good teacher,” she said, smiling ruefully at me. God, I so wanted just to skip this lesson and carry her off to the room. But I had promised to guide her, and that’s what I should do.

“Hang on to me,” I uttered as I supported Ami’s scantily clad bottom and scooped her up. She gasped as she wound her slender legs around my waist, hanging on to me for dear life.

Our eyes were at the same level now, and we couldn’t help but stare into each other's eyes, oblivious to the surroundings and the possibility of people watching. I was too enthralled by her that I didn’t seem to worry about anything. She was all that I could see and think of. Then, I started wading into the lake, carrying Ami with such ease since she was as light as a feather.

The moment we submerged in the water, Ami went rigid and started to clutch me tighter, her legs fasten even more firmly around my waist till there wasn’t a speck of space between our bodies. I realised she was having difficulty in breathing and started to shake. As we got to the shallow part, I stopped and soothed Ami. She was now hugging me so tightly, her arms and legs sticking to me like glue.

“I can’t do this, Kin. I just can’t,” she trembled, her voice soft against my ear.

“Shh… take it easy, love. Easy now. One step at a time,” I murmured as I rubbed her back to soothe her.

Ami kept grappling at me as I continued stroking her back in an attempt to keep her from quavering. It took a blissful ten minutes before she settled down. I combed her hair with my fingers as her shaky breath came to a halt. With her face so close to mine, I asked softly, “Are you better now?” She nodded once, then twice.

“Do you want to continue, love?” I whispered. She nodded again, couldn’t seem to find her voice.

“All right, baby. I’m gonna bring you a little bit deeper into the water. Keep holding me like this, okay,” I cooed. Her hold on me tightened, and every nerve in my body thrummed like a live wire, for her curvaceous body was pressing unceasingly to mine, struggling to stay afloat.

The summer breeze was so slight that it didn’t disrupt the balance in the lake. Learning how to swim was best done in a swimming pool, but the lake was the perfect spot for Ami this evening since there were no waves. We bobbed around in the water for a few minutes to let Ami get the sense of it. She didn’t panic anymore, but her grip on me was still tight.

“The first thing we learn is float. To float on your back, you should be calm and relaxed in the water, be comfortable. I’ll be your spotter, your lifeguard.”

“Spotter?” Ami asked quizzically.

“Yeah, someone who watches and observes,” I explained.

“Is that all you’re gonna do? Not to take care of me, like a bodyguard?” she asked petulantly.

I chuckled and said, “I can be your bodyguard, sweetheart. I will guard your body. Would you prefer that?” I smirked.

“As long as you don’t leave me to drown, yes, please do that,” Ami glared at me.

She looked so adorable when her doe eyes turned as big as saucers. I smiled inwardly, wondering if I should just kiss those plump lips to make her forget she’s in the water. No, not right now, I thought, and if I’m lucky, I might get a kiss from her later as a reward.

“Before you begin to float on your back, you need to align your body with the surface of the water. Your body should start in a position that is almost parallel to the water.

Once your body is able to do that, it'll be much easier to make adjustments to the rest of your body. Any questions, love?” I asked softly.

“You’ll make sure I won’t sink?” Ami peered at me dubiously.

“I’m as good as my word, love,” I said as I gazed at her. “Ready?”

Ami nodded, and I unfolded her arms from my shoulders gently. But her legs were still entwined behind my back, and it looked like she refused to release her legs lest she would sink to the bottom of the lake.

“You know I love having your sexy legs wrapped around me, but I need the whole of you for you to float, baby,” I winked at her.

The summer night sky was vast and endless, and looking up, I was welcomed by countless stars, constellations, and the moon. The starry night sky was a time of comfort and peace, backed with the serenity and quietness of the nearby trees swaying in the gentle breeze. Though dark, I could still see Ami’s demureness, and I kept my mirth to myself as I didn’t want to make her uncomfortable.

“Okay, I’m letting go of my legs now, Kin,” she murmured.

I immediately caught her and kept her above water while slowly turning her body and holding it up parallel to the water. She quickly grabbed my neck, but I told her to stay calm.
