Horses for courses!
I'll just work for myself and for Jaxon. Not for anyone else.
I have no choice but to clean this room. The maids don’t want me to help them since I am now the wife of their boss. And since we have already signed a contract and he will also transfer the name of the land to me, McCoy is no longer my last name. I am now Jessamine McCoy Sullivan. It's nice, it fits my name. But I have to remember that it will only take about three months-- or five? When everything is in order, I can file a divorce against him, and he can't do anything about it, that's also compensation for him burning down my most beloved flower shop.
I yawned and I thought to stop from what I was doing, I was wearing a simple black shirt and jeans, sneakers and I let my hair down. And because it's boring here in the mansion, I planned to go to his company and bring lunch for him.
Carrying my simple sling bag I went down the stairs, I found Madam Sela cleaning the table. I smiled and approached her. My gaze went to the refrigerator, I know there's food. I prepared that earlier, I am supposed to eat that so I wouldn't have to come here but I changed my mind.
"Madam Sela," I called. She looked up at me and smiled.
"Jassie, what is it?"
"Uhm, I am thinking about of... going out. I-I need to bring this to Louis, this is for his lunch."
"They were right, you are two were really married. All right, just send the driver--"
"No, it's okay. I can take a taxi."
"Are you sure?"
I nodded and put the food in a plastic bag.
"Yeah."
"Well then, take care."
When we finished talking, I simply reorganized myself first. I also walked out of the mansion, some drivers even looked away-- maybe they were wondering why I was leaving alone. I don't really need a driver to leave, I have money here and I'll use it for a taxi. Just a few minutes later I was in the car. I have never been to their company. I always hear that on the news, and I see their building on social media. I haven't seen what it looks like in real life. When the car stopped, I got out. But I was stunned, my mouth opened as I looked up at the large and high building in front of me.
It is a twenty five storey building. Its color seems to have come from an expensive piece of equipments to form this building. I looked at the entrance and there were a lot of people entering inside, employees and those planning to apply. I looked at it again, on its top side, there was written three S's that said Sullivan's Scented Society. This is it! What you see is what you got! This is how it looks on social media, magnificent and glossy. And I did not expected that this is better in real life. I swallowed, I started to stepped. The two guards looked at me before finally letting me in. It's even more amazing inside.
I didn't hesitate to look for the receptionist. I saw a woman. She has red lips, thick eyebrows, thick make up on her face and she has these low bun and clean hairstyle. She is wearing a blue long sleeve and with a red ribbon in the middle of it. And because I was excited to see what Louis's office looked like, I ran and smiled to face her.
"Good day, Ma'am. How can I help you?"
"Hi! Can I know which floor is Louis's office on?"
She grimaced on me.
"You mean, Mr. Sullivan's office?" I nodded. "It is on the top floor. But you can't go in there, he has a meeting."
"Okay! I can wait in his office room--"
"Excuse me, Ma'am. But you cannot go there until you have received no invitation from him."
I swallowed.
Why so? Why is her tone of voice like that? I don’t know if she was laughing at me or her voice was insulting me. As well as the way she looks.
"That's okay. Louis knows me so I can stay and wait for--"
"Mr. Sullivan is still in the conference room for some business meeting. You can't just go to his office. If you want, just wait there in the chair. Or should I call Mr. Sullivan's secretary?"
I was annoyed.
"How long is the meeting?" I asked, the receptionist smirked at me.
"You still have to wait two hours. They were talking seriously and about finances so he could not be disturbed. Now that you know you can't just approach the Chief Executive Officer, you can now leave."
I frowned at the way she spoke. Why is their receptionist not so approachable? I took a deep breath to suppress my anger. I don't want to start a mess here, I calmed myself down and gave her a fake smile.
"My name is Jassie, Jessamine McCoy Sullivan. I am Louis' wife."
Her head shook and her right eyebrow rose. The receptionist looked at me from head to toe, her eyes seemed to be disgusted with what she saw so I frowned even more. What's wrong with I am wearing? Doesn't she want to believe that I am her boss' wife?
"Sorry, but we don't accept lunatics in here. Guards! Get this woman away!"
I'm surprised. My eyes widened because of what she said. Did she just called me lunatic? How dare her! I felt the anger when the two guards holding both my arms. I bit my lower lip to stop myself from shouting, people turned to look at us, especially at me. When they dragged me away, they left me outside. The receptionist even smirked and rolled her eyes on me before closing the glass door. Damn it! She ruined my day! She didn’t really believe that I am Louis' wife, and she even called me really lunatic. I took a deep breath. I stood in front of the building, picked up my phone and texted Louis' number.
Me:
Louis.
Me:
Are you still in the meeting?
I gasped, it took only five seconds before he replied to me.
From Him:
Yeah, why?
Me:
I am in front of your building.
I took a deep breath again. Jesus.
From Him:
What? What are you doing in here?
Me:
I am bored. The receptionist was not letting me in.
From Him:
The fuck? Tell her that you are my wife.
Me:
I already did.
From Him:
Wait for me there.
Me:
But you are still in the meeting, I'll just wait outside.
Almost ten minutes later he did not reply yet. I stopped, breath and sat on a rock while I am in front of the building. It's really hard to approach Louis, you need an appointment or invitation before you can get to his office. That's how people respect him. I put my hands on my knees, other people were already looking at me and I am just ignoring them. I looked at my cellphone again, still no reply from him.
I looked inside. My lips parted as I saw Louis come out of the elevator. He was still wearing a black suit and seemed to be in a hurry. And he was really true to what he said, huh? I saw some people greeted him, and the two guards bowed to him. He pushed open the door and looked down at me, almost meeting his thick eyebrows. He approached me, knelt down so that our faces were straight.
"What the hell, Jassie? Why are you out here waiting?"
I tilted my head and rolled my eyes.
"I asked which floor your office was on, the receptionist said I couldn't go in there. She even called me a lunatic when I said I am your wife. And the two guards dragged me out of there. Anyway, why are you here? I thought you were in a meeting? Your companions might be angry."
His jaw clenched.
"Repeat it."
"Huh?"
"Repeat what you said."
I blinked. I started to get nervous. There was something different from his tone.
"Uhm, the receptionist c-called me a lunatic when I said that I am you w-wife. And the guards dragged me out-- Louis!"
He gripped my hand tightly, he pulled me upright and into the building. The people were shocked by what happened and they all stopped. I was stunned when we confronted the receptionist. I can see the fear in the woman's eyes.
"What's your name?" Louis asked with an intent voice.
"K-Kate Diced, Mr. Sullivan."
He pulled me closer.
"This. The woman you called lunatic is my wife. And starting today, I don't want to see your face here again. You're fired."
"S-sir..."
I felt guilty. I turned to the woman and saw that she was now bent over in embarrassment. We confronted the two guards, Louis pointed them out.
"And you two, you are fired. Get out of my company. Now!"
The three did nothing but bent over and leave the company. The people around suddenly gasped, I heard the faint whispers and the fears in their eyes. I can feel Louis's anger since his grip on me is getting tighter.
"Even if one of you mistreats my wife, I will not hesitate to remove you from my company. You have no right to call this woman the way you want. This is my wife."
Suddenly, the noise disappeared throughout the area. He pulled me back until we could get on the elevator. His hand was still tightly gripping my wrist. I'm hurt but I don't want to talk. He was still the same as before, but worse. Louis was so scary when he's angry, and he's scarier when he's angry right now. Not even one of us said a word inside the elevator until it opened and we went to the top floor. I was even surprised to see Hendrix there.
"Louis--"
"Shut the fuck up, Madrigal. They are getting into my nerves."
He pulled me while we were walking in the hallway, I feel like Hendrix was just next to us.
"Easy, dude. Did you stop the meeting? How is--"
"Don't you ever try to talk to me first if you don't want me to take away my sister from you."
"All right, okay, I'll shut up."
He opened the brown door. We were greeted by a cold room, the aircon was on and his desk was a bit messy. Papers are also scattered as well as other books. He pushed me until I could sit on the sofa. He was still holding my hand so I frowned.
"Why didn't you call me right away?"
I lowered my eyes.
"I-I don't want to disturb you."
"You don't want to bother me but you let them treat you like that?" I can feel the rage on his voice.
Shit, it hurts.
"I... I just want to bring this lunch for you."
He creased his forehead. Why are you talking like that?"
I nibbled my lower lip. I looked at his hand, still holding my wrist. Damn it.
"You are hurting me, Louis."
