Lani glanced at Kayder, who was asking her with a somewhat embarrassed expression, perhaps because he felt guilty for such a disastrous misunderstanding. She was in pain and tired lying on the hospital bed, but he had the thought that she wanted to eat cake.
"I'm fine, it's just pain every month." Lani hesitantly pursed her lips to answer him.
She hadn't told him directly that she'd had a stomach ache for months, she said in a roundabout way, but she thought he'd be sharp enough to understand. Sure enough, she saw him raise an eyebrow, then breathed a sigh of relief. She smiled shyly at him.
