DREW

“I’m sorry, but you’re not pregnant, Drew.” Dr Wagner conveyed, her blue eyes filled with sympathy. “As I mentioned before, there are other methods we can explore…” She stared at the test results and slid them over her mahogany desk.

I took them and stuffed them in my bag, I couldn’t look at them again. Once was enough. “But the kit was positive?” Hope slowly waned but I’d thought that maybe my prayers were answered one more time. That I was lucky enough to have a miracle happened twice.

“Home pregnancy kits are not always accurate,” she gently pointed out. “That’s why it’s recommended that you visit your OB for clarity.”

“What about the symptoms? Morning sickness?”

“You could have got a bug or something,” she rationalized. “We can run more tests-”

“No,” I took my bag from the desk, stood abruptly and crossed to the door. “Thank you for your time, doctor.”
