Chapter 2 Money Over You

Chapter 2

Money over you

***

"Let's break."

"What?!" He asked hysterically.

This is the greeting that Dominic got, after Madge, his mother, leaves the house, he arrives exhausted after an hour.

Obviously, he didn't expect this. We are doing so fine in our life together, not until I decided to save my family, to have the money over him and my happiness.

"I want us to break. Let's end this!" I repeated.

"Are you out of your mind Vella?!"

"No! Of course not!"

"Then are you thinking straight as of this moment?!"

"Yes!"

He frustratedly pulled his hair and threw his bag on the corner before grabbing one of my elbows to get near to him and face him.

"My god, Vella! I just came home and this is what greeted me?" He utter like he couldn't believe it at all. "Tell me what happened."

I shake my head. "I know that something happened that made you decide like this."

"Let's just end this. Let me go."

Instead of doing what I told him, he tightened his grip and I'm slowly hurting because of it.

"No! I'll lock you in the basement if you don't tell me what's going on!"

I once again shake my head in dismay. "Dominic, our marriage is fake."

I thought he would act like he didn't know it all, like he's surprised but his response says the opposite and this time he let go of me.

"I know. My mom let us sign a fake marriage contract and she tore the legal one. Luckily, someone told me about it days after our signing. I confronted her, and she confessed I was mad and thought of repeating it with the legal one again but I got bombarded with work that I forgot about."

My eyes grew big.

"How dare you?" Those three words came out as whispers.

He seems to realize what wrong he did so he apologizes. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

He lied to me. He knew all along that we have a fake marriage and he let it stay that way, it's not a problem for me but the fact that he lied, it is.

We've been staying in this 'fake marriage' for almost six months now and this is the chance that I got to learn that all of this is not legal, the way I assume it is.

What a life.

"No. That fact alone made me want everything about us to end. I don't want to live with a liar." I pointed my forefinger in his face with my gritted teeth.

He shakes his head. "No one and nothing can make us break, you understand? Let's talk about this some other time. I'm tired, Vella."

He walked away, ready to go upstairs and rest but I blocked his way. That's why he sighed.

I slowly remove our wedding ring in my middle finger. I let him watch me. The thing is the only remembrance of our fake marriage and I don't want to keep it with me as I leave.

I stared at his bloodshot eyes and handed him the ring. "Take this. I'm serious about ending things with you Dominic."

"Just like that Vella?! Just like that?!" He angrily shouts like hulk that made me flinch and stutter a bit.

He also threw the ring that I handed him, it made a noise on the marble floor.

Dominic doesn't have a lot of patience nor less of it but when he's angry this side of him is brought up.

Even so, I talked. He deserves to hear me too. "You should be thankful that I at least waited for you to come home before I left."

"Ohh. D*mn! That's crap! Don't leave!"

"Then tell me what's the reason for me to stay here? We are not legally married like I thought it is, Dominic. Plus you lied about it!"

He scoffed. "Legal or not, I'm still in love with you! Please consider my feelings."

Surprisingly, his voice broke. Oh no. This is the part where I don't want him to see. His d*mn breakdown.

"Why would I?" I stayed solid as I watched him. I waited for his tears but they didn't come, and his eyes are now dark. It's like telling me that I'm in huge trouble.

"Don't you love me?"

I swallowed. "I d-do."

"Then why?"

"I don't want to be inside a fake marriage."

He fisted. "Then we can make it legal! I'll call my lawyer to get the papers ready and will sign it right away!"

"No! Don't waste your effort, Dominic. I already made up my mind," I firmly said. Begging him to accept that at least.

He still got his phone out and typed something. He's now pacing back and forth, he just stops when he somewhat realizes that something is missing in our conversation.

"Who told you about our fake marriage?"

"Your mom," I answered the truth.

Typically, women will hide this fact but not me. I want him to know at least that before I leave, he deserves it.

Unconsciously, he throws his phone in frustration and anger.

"What did she tell you?"

"A lot of stuff that you don't want to hear."

"Whatever it is. Tell me." It was firm, like I needed to follow what he said.

I lowered my head, now watching my foot barely touching the cold floor. "I don't want to. You'll not like it."

"I said tell me! Tell me everything she said, so that I can clear it!"

I face up and meet his strange eyes. "No need because I already made a decision. You are not my husband and I'm not your wife at all, well, we are not in the first place."

"What the..."

"I'll leave now." I turn around and gather to leave him there.

"I said no! You tell me everything now!" He ruthlessly pulled my elbow causing me to lose my balance but I didn't end up on the floor because he already caught me.

I got pissed. "Fine! You wanted to know? Then I'll tell you!" I removed his hands and made distance. "I choose five hundred million over you."

He's shocked and didn't see this coming. I think he thought that it's all about marriage but the truth is, it's not.

After his minutes of agonizing at that fact reality hits him. He punched the nearest wall with all of his force. Thank goodness, it didn't break.

"Why?!" His voice is so serious, as well as his eyes. Like he can kill if he wants too.

I shrugged. "It's a good offer, isn't it?" I joked, although it's not intended. "Five hundred million is a huge amount, I can do whatever I want and finally have freedom without thinking about you."

He pinned me on the wall. I'm shocked by his actions. "Is money really better than choosing me?"

"Yes." 'Of course not.' My inner brain whispers.

"Based on what you look at right now, you seem not regretting anything." He gritted his teeth and teased me with his nose.

"That's right." I managed to reply.

In a minute, I just found his fist in my stomach. I know Dominic and what he's capable of doing so I stopped holding his knuckles before it could touch my stomach and hurt our baby.

"Stop. Let me go," I seriously said.

"No!" There I felt it on my stomach.

He punched me using his other knuckles. I saw directly in his eyes that he's hurting. "I love you but why?! Why did you choose money over me?! Why?!" He shouted with full range and was supposed to land another punch on but I also shouted about my situation with tears.

"I'm pregnant!" I sobbed and held my stomach, wishing that my baby would stay.

"What?" He put his knuckles down and relaxed. Watching me confused.

"We are going to have our baby but this is not the reason why I should stay and I'll not have this baby anyway."

I pursed my lips after voicing those words out. I feel bad about myself for repeatingly lying.

"No please."

"I still chose to have the money over you, Dominic."

It's actually, I chose my family over you, but what can I do? Nothing but to watch his grief. And there's one question that lives in my mind after Madge left.

Should I keep the baby or not?
