Chapter 10 Stepping Stone

Next day.

Noe was awakened by the sound of her phone ringing.

In order to make herself look like as much of a bumpkin as possible, she was using an old phone which could only make phone calls and send messages.

When she saw the caller's name on her phone screen, she sobered up instantly.

She hesitated for a moment before answering the phone, "Hello, Dad."

As usual, Leo said in a serious voice, "Did you go home yesterday? Who sent you back?"

Noe couldn't believe that was the first question her father asked after marrying her off, she was utterly disappointed.

Furthermore, Leo rarely called her on the phone.

Now that he suddenly called to ask about this, Noe couldn't help suspecting his intentions.

Still, she told him the truth, "Theo's cousin."

Leo pondered for a moment on the other end of the line before saying, "When you're free, bring Vivi to Mills Villa for a visit. If there is any decent young man there, introduce him to her so that she can make more friends."

Noe immediately understood what he meant.

She figured after she left William Villa the day before, 'Evan' and Vivi might have met each other.

Vivi probably had a crush on 'Evan', so she wanted her to pull some strings.

The father-daughter duo seemed to have plotted everything from the beginning.

Initially, it was Vivi who was engaged to Theo. However, Noe had ended up marrying Theo.

Then, they would use Noe as a stepping stone to finding Vivi, another decent man in the Mills family, to be her husband.

Everyone in Hill's City knew that apart from Theo, all his cousins from the Mills family were outstanding and bright.

There was a trace of self-deprecation in Noe's eyes, both Vivi and she were Leo's biological daughters, why was he treating them so differently?

How could he show favouritism so much?

Suppressing her grievances, Noe tried to keep her voice calm. "I'd love to bring Vivi to Mills Villa, but I haven't met Theo yet."

Upon hearing that, Leo's rage erupted.

"What? You haven't even met your husband? Why are you so useless? And you still had the nerves to go home!"

Tears shoved up her throat, and she swallowed hard, her voice was the same as usual as she said, "If you bring Vivi to Mills Villa, maybe Theo would see her, I'm just an imposter, why would he want to see me?"

Theo, who just came out of the bathroom, heard what Noe was saying, sitting on the bed, her long thick hair was hanging down to her waist.

She was holding her phone so tightly that the veins on the back of her hand could be seen bulging, tears framed her eyes, but she stubbornly blinked hard against them.

Looking at her delicate figure, Theo's heart ached for her.

He narrowed his eyes and couldn't help feeling that his newlywed wife was more and more pleasing to the eye.

Noe's face suddenly turned pale, but Theo had no clue what the person on the other end of the line had said; she did not speak nor did she hang up the phone.

Theo walked straight to her, snatched the phone from her hand, and hung up the phone directly.

He was surprised to see that she was still using an old-fashioned mobile phone.

Looking down at Noe, there was no emotion in his voice when he said, "If you don't feel like listening to it, just don't."

In a panic, Noe looked up, her eyes glistening with tears.

However, she could not see his face clearly as her vision was blurry.

Surprisingly, she seemed to sense a hint of comfort in his words.

The next moment, her eyes widened and asked, "How did I end up in bed?"

She remembered she was sleeping on the sofa the night before because she had let 'Evan' sleep on the bed.

"You climbed up to the bed while you were sleepwalking," Theo said with a poker face.

Then, he walked on the other side of the bed and lay down beside her.
