Chapter 2 Raphael, The Handsome Man

I gasped in horror.

I knew he heard me spot on because he suddenly turned his head as soon I finished my sentence. And of course, I had the nerve to look away at the same time he glanced at me. I felt so embarrassed that I didn’t even notice that the bartender had already served my drink and I accidentally spilled it when I lifted my elbow at the counter to cover my face in shame.

Why is this happening?!

I quickly stood up to wipe myself as I felt the cold water run through my thigh. I didn’t dare to look at him and just hurriedly faced my back on him to lessen the embarrassment that I felt now. While I was wiping myself, to my surprise, he suddenly spoke.

“Are you trying to make me laugh?”

I turned to him in confusion. I held out the gasp when I saw how handsome he was again and just gulped down the overwhelming pressure of seeing such a guy in front of me. He already looked drunk as his cheeks were flushed red like Emily’s and the fact that he was grinning at a stranger like me, says a lot about how disoriented he already was.

I replied, “No?”

“Well, you’re effortlessly funny then. Do accompany me.” He says and pats the seat beside him.

Oh my God. Did I actually pull this flirting off?!

I turned to look at my best friend, who I knew was watching my every move. And just like me, she was frozen at the spot after seeing how the situation was going. She looked like she sobered after going through so much shock for a brief second. Not gonna lie, I can’t blame her for being so!

I let out a light chuckle and awkwardly sat beside him.

“One martini for the lady.” He calls, and the bartender nods.

“Thank you.”

“What’s your name?”

What’s my name? Is he even in the state to even remember my name? Anyway, I can’t give him my name since this will be the last time we meet again. I'll just make up a name that everyone has. I'm sure he’d forget about me after this.

“Stacy.”

“Stacy,” He repeats in a low huskily voice. “You’re not from here aren’t you?”

My eyebrow furrowed in puzzlement. Why does he keep interrogating me like this? Do I look that clueless around here? I was sure I looked pretty casual- well maybe not for the most part.

“How can you tell?”

He chuckles, “It’s obvious. I'm a regular at this nightclub and this is the first time I saw you in this city.”

“Figures, it looked like every woman in this club knew you.”

He squints his eyes in amusement. “You were watching me?”

“Well, I wasn’t intending to, but seeing so many hot women come to you and be rejected… it’s a sight to see.”

He shook his head in dismay and sipped his drink. “I have no time for women who just wants my money.”

“Oh?” I raised an eyebrow in surprise, at that point, I couldn’t help but say a half-meant joke of mine that I suddenly thought was a good idea. “Then how about women who’s after your looks?”

I couldn’t even take it back when I saw how surprised he was when I said that. He must be baffled that I keep on complimenting him on his looks for a while now- yet I knew I wouldn’t stop since he literally looked like a man from my dreams.

He was the perfect candidate to have my child.

I chuckled, tilting my head to make me look more attractive as the research entails. “You look like you’ve never heard of such a compliment your whole life…Mr?”

“Raphael. Call me Raphael.”

Even his name came from the gods! There was no more holding back. The desire to devour this man enveloped me that all the nervousness in my body seemed to disappear. Being the only woman who could approach him right now made my ego boost, it was an undeniable fact that he somewhat found me attractive even though it was an awkward encounter. No matter how humiliating it was, the accident turned out to be in my favor.

I sipped my cold martini drink after it was served in front of me. I needed the alcohol, most especially since I needed to get an extra push to win over this man tonight. I won’t lose! I have t get this man’s genes without fail! I just have to bait this man to come with me, then everything would come after that!

“So…Raphael, what do you think of me?”

He stares at me, eyeing me up and down to inspect how I looked. Not to brag, but I was pretty confident that I look pretty decent for a woman he might like. I was curvy in the right places that it hugged my red bodycon dress perfectly. I was pretty much all dressed up like my best friend. My make-up, hair, and even posture were readily groomed to make me almost unrecognizable. Even if someone knew me passed by, they wouldn’t recognize me.

He smirks, “Average.”

I raised my eyebrows in annoyance. Are you kidding me? So he’s not interested in me after all? I was way over my head! Looks like I'll just be wasting my time talking to him. I nodded to myself. Right! I'm not that desperate anyway!

“Then, excuse this average woman. Thank you for the drink, Mr. Raphael. Enjoy the rest of the night.”

As I stood up from my seat. I was about to leave him alone if it wasn’t for his hand that suddenly stopped me. I turned to him. It was then I noticed how tall this guy actually is. As a 5’6 ft woman, standing beside him made me feel like my height isn’t that tall after all.

Damn it, Tall, Dark, and handsome?! How can God be so biased toward you!
