Chapter 60 BLINDED BY HATRED

Chapter 60: Blinded By Hatred

***

In Ward No. 57, Kesha lay quietly on the hospital bed. Eloise staggered to the front of the bed and sat tremblingly on the chair beside the bed. She carefully held Kesha’s hand.

Tears were boiling, running from the eye sockets to the cheeks and vanishing into the air.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't protect you and Dad... I'm sorry..." She raised her head and covered her mouth with another hand, afraid she would suddenly collapse and call her mother like a child.

She desperately told herself to be patient and strong. Someone will come in at any time; she can't reveal the emotions that don't match Eloise.

She wiped away her tears, just about to let go of Kesha’s hand, when steady footsteps came through the door. This was the sound of footsteps she had heard in her previous life. It was the footsteps she listened to every day while imprisoned in the basement. Footsteps of panic and resentment again and again.
