Chapter 66 Her Broken Mate

"Sarah, get your ass out of that bathroom right now!" grumbled a voice from behind the door, banging its fists against it. "You have been in there for hours and I want to take a shower too, you know!"

"Five more minutes!" yelled Sarah, who was almost ready to blast the toilet.

She just finished and flushed the toilet, letting out a sigh of relief. Not a second later, she unlocked the door and opened it. Emily, her best friend and roommate, entered the bathroom. She immediately screwed up her face and slapped her hands in front of her nose. "Holy shit, what died in here!"

"My stomach... Along with my ass. And maybe a little bit of my dignity?" Sarah whimpered, feeling ashamed. "Let us just say my ass was on fire and I must have had too many hot Cheetos and

Taki's."

Emily clicked her tongue in disappointment, "Damn girl, you need to lay off the spicy food for a change."

Sarah whined and quickly denied, "That's like you telling me to die. My life is not the same without snacks, they are a comfort food because they fill my loneliness."

Emily just rolled her eyes in annoyance, "Okay, Miss-Killing-My-Nose.

-from your explosive diarrhea. We need to get on the road soon. We are going to be late." She said and fanned her nose one last time in disgust.

Confused, Sarah reached for her phone to see what time it was. All she saw was that they still had an hour to get ready and head to the airport. She had not even realized how much time had passed. Then again, that might have been because she had run to the bathroom to take a shower. Her jaw dropped before she turned her attention back to Emily.

Unimpressed with her reaction, Emily continued, "Hurry up and get ready, I am going to start the car," before leaving Sarah alone.

Sarah sighed and washed again, trying to make up for the time they had lost from their feeding frenzy the night before.

As Sarah finished loading her suitcase, her wolf's voice popped into her head.

"What a wonderful start to a crappy morning, huh?" she said in a teasing tone.

'Shut up, by golly,' Sarah replied angrily.

Thunder just chuckled at her response before cutting the connection.

Finally, they reached the gates. The flight attendants were generous enough to let them board even though they were a few minutes late. Who would have thought that people could be so nice? No, they were not. Sarah just heard a person complaining behind her, but she could not blame him, because the whole plane was delayed by five minutes because of them.

How embarrassing.

Emily and she quickly took their seats and the flight attendants quickly instructed them on what to do if something happened.

Honestly, it's amusing to watch people, but Sarah was already bored. The flight will be long, but just thinking about it makes her groan.

"Hey, shhh, Emily..." she said, turning to face her. Emily was already passed out in the seat next to her, so cross that off the list to have someone to talk to.

This bitch really fell asleep so fast...

They flew from Florida to their old pack in Canada.

Sarah sighed, she hoped her mate was there.

After all, she was only visiting and pack members left and left. She was rarely visiting. If her mate was not in the pack, she did not know what else to do. Going in search of her mate at fifteen was not a very smart move, because werewolves do not discover their mates until they are sixteen. She is now twenty-three and still without a mate.

That would mean that her mate is either dead and she has a second chance, or that he is in another pack in another country.

After thinking for a few moments, Sarah called her wolf, Thunder in thought link, and waited anxiously for answers.

Thunder, what if we do not find our mate? What if...

'Sarah,' she said with a frown, 'there are no 'what if's' in my book. That's left to your imagination, but most will never be answered and could get you into trouble.'

'I am just worried,' Sarah replied, waving her hands around.

Thunder sighed, 'Me too, Sarah, but I have a feeling our companion is out there. I promise you he'll be around. I can feel it. I have been very restless lately.'

'I hope you are right.'

'I always have,' Thunder said, puffing out her chest self-consciously.

'Very cocky?

'Yet you love me,' she replied.

'Unfortunately, yes,' Sarah sighed sarcastically.

Smiling, Sarah disconnected.

She took a deep breath and looked out the window.

Let us hope for the best. Still, Sarah was so sure that something was wrong.

"We are here! Oh, sweet Canada! I am so glad to be home!" shrieked Emily happily, throwing her hands in the air. She took a deep breath, enjoying the solid ground and the feeling of not being in the air.

Werewolves like the ground, you know.

The flight was long and Sarah was frankly tired, too. She was not surprised that Emily was excited to return to her old home. Originally, they had planned to use their old house as a holiday home if she could find her mate here or somewhere near the territory. But if not, she would move back to the US.

Just thinking about it makes her want to roll her eyes.

As she watched Emily, she realised something and wanted to get back at her for boring her to death.

Sarah smirked and her lips twisted into a smile, "I hate to interrupt your party, Emily, but you have got some drool in the corner there. Also, I think your makeup is smeared. You look like the clown you are." said Sarah, pointing to the corner of her mouth and her face.

Emily paused in her movement and stared at her with wide eyes, "What?! Where? Why didn't you tell me this before, Sarah! God! Help me! I do not want Ryan to see me like this!"

They waited for Ryan, Emily's buddy, to pick them up. It was a long struggle until they were together when Sarah was younger. In the end, they managed to work it all out and have never been more in love.

Honestly, given the shit Ryan did to Emily back then, Sarah was not even sure she would forgive him herself. After all, he made up with her and she's grateful that he's Emily's partner.

Sarah admired her hands and looked at her nonexistent ring on her ring finger. A sad thought surfaced, but she shook it off and continued with the number. "Then I shouldn't have been bored to death with these people, eh, Emily?"

She glanced at Sarah, "Are you kidding?"

"Whaaat, no. Of course not, why would I do that to my best friend?" said Sarah with a hint of sarcasm.

"Ohh, come here you!" She growled playfully at Sarah before deciding to chase her in small circles. Honestly, her makeup was perfect and she was not drooling. Maybe a little, but not as much as she was overdoing it.

This went on for quite a while until a deep voice interrupted their fun.

"I see you have not changed."

Emily froze at the voice before slowly turning to look at him.

"Ryan?" she whispered out.

Sarah directed her attention to what she was looking at, and sure enough, it was Emily's mate.

He was tall, had grey eyes and brown hair. Ryan was well muscled and everything about him was perfect. Then again, all werewolves were either handsome or good looking, even naturally fit.

Emily, on the other hand, had hazel eyes and brunette hair. She looked good for her age of twenty-six, while Ryan was twenty-seven.

The moon goddess blessed everyone with good looks, like damn. Sarah just knew that the people on the outskirts were shouting how happy they were. They look like humans themselves, but they do not know they are supernatural beings.

Sarah, lost in her thoughts, did not notice Emily zooming in on her companion.

Emily threw herself into her friend's arms and burst into tears. They have not seen each other in six months, and it's been hard on both of them. It's agony to be separated from your partner. It is as if you miss your other half and the longing becomes strong. There is no you without the other.

Soon they started kissing and whispering sweet nothings to each other which Sarah did not mind... But after a while they started making out and it got a little too hot. My god, with the amount of touching they were doing, they might as well make a sex video.

"Okay, I hate to interrupt the reunion, but hold off on having sex in a public area.

Seriously, people are staring at us." complained Sarah in a whisper, just loud enough for the two of them to hear her.

Ryan and Emily reluctantly separated, their eyes pitch black.

With a wink from Ryan to Emily and the word, later from her, Sarah knew that once they arrived at the pack house, they would go down and get it dirty. Those fucking horny wolves. Sarah is the only one here!

"My poor virgin eyes... it's like Twilight in action, only so much worse," Sarah complained, rubbing her temples.

Maybe this is similar to Fifty Shades of Grey?

'You'll understand when we meet our companion,' Thunder replied gently.

Sarah licked her tongue when Thunder said that.

Yes, when they meet him.

After another three hours of driving, they arrived at their destination.

Sarah was completely exhausted and just wanted to fall asleep. Ryan and Emily scurried off somewhere else, probably to make up for lost time. If you know what I mean. It must be nice not to be alone in this lonely world.

Sarah shrugged and entered the complex with her luggage. It was beautiful, almost like a classic celebrity mansion. That was exactly how she remembered the pack house. It was the same replica of the pack house many years ago, before the fire. She had not been here much since her parents had been killed in the attack.

Sadness came over her before she could shake it off.

As soon as she found her old room, she began to settle in. Her bed was almost the same as she had left it, but she could tell that the bedding had been changed. Sarah sniffed the air and found that it was Ryan who had changed it.

She was really glad he was Emily's buddy. Joseph was such an asshole. She sighed and buried her face in the pillow. Just as she was about to fall asleep, her stomach growled and demanded food. She could not sleep on an empty stomach.

Groaning, Sarah sat up and went downstairs to the kitchen. Only to groan again because she had forgotten her damn phone. She cracked one of her knuckles out of habit, but then went back upstairs to her room.

As she trotted up the stairs, a certain scent hit her like a rock. It smelled like the Bath and Body Works marine perfume she now preferred. Thunder began pacing, unyielding to the smell. She was drunk on it.

The smell became more overpowering the closer she got to the top of the stairs. It came from the next two floors. It was too addictive and her wolf begged her to follow the smell. Why hadn't she noticed this scent before? It seems that whoever it was had just returned from a patrol.

She followed the heady scent. It led to the alpha's office, but why would it be there?

Before her hand could reach the knob, the door was yanked open with a bang. She looked up and met sky-blue eyes.

At this point, Thunder was already freaking out.

'MATE! MATE! MATE!', she screamed out.

Sarah's breath caught and her eyes widened in disbelief.

This can not be...

"S-Seth...?"
