Mary's POV:
"Mary!" my mother screamed, running out of the house and hugging me like a bear. I almost fell over at the impact. I laughed as she showered my face with kisses and tears streamed down her face. Her perfume rose to my nose, and I relaxed instantly. I sighed contentedly. I was sure that my mother would never betray me. She'd never give up on me. This was the first time I smiled in days. I felt so safe in her arms. "You've grown up so much! I missed you!"
"Mom, you saw me like... two weeks ago." I chuckled and sighed again. "I missed you too mom," I said seriously. My father cleared his throat and I frowned. What did he want this time? I turned and glared at my father, but he just smiled at me. I squinted my eyes and he turned and smiled at my mother.
