Chapter 49 Meeting Halfway

Nadia hands me a glass of water and I quickly gulp the refreshing liquid down. All the tear shedding had made my throat dry and sore. I look at my friend whose eyes were as red and puffy as mine.

No one said saying goodbyes would be easy. "So...when are you leaving?", the redhead asks.

Putting the glass down, I sigh, "Tomorrow..."

"Tomorrow??", the female gasps, "And you're telling me Now?? You could have also told me when you were about to step OUT of the border!" With a huff, she continues, "Do I mean nothing to you??"

"Nadia...You know it's not true...", I rub the back of her hand, "It just...It is a last moment plan... We decided today that we should leave...and it's all so sudden for me too..."

"You decided just today and are leaving tomorrow?? How are you going to pack so fast??", the redhead gasps and I bite my lower lip, looking down at my hands. Packing... There isn't much to pack.
