Chapter 2 WHAT MARCUS MEANT

Chapter 2: What Marcus Meant

***

MARCUS’S eyes were filled with surprise.

'Does she still work hard to keep her dignity?' He pondered.

Yes, her name was Astrid. This woman had always been conceited. Even though he refused her love confessions, she showed no sign of weakness.

Marcus quickly caught her delicate chin.

“Ouch! It hurts!”

Marcus appears to be attempting to crush her chin.

Because of the pain, Astrid almost burst into tears.

Marcus showed no mercy at all. He pinched her chin tighter and tighter. Who can imagine the vicious heart hidden beneath this beautiful face?

"Ms. Levine, please enjoy your prison life now," Marcus sneered. He let go of her chin and turned to wave. He walked away easily and freely.

Astrid's face was pale, and she was unable to speak.

The women's prison was not as tranquil as it appeared. She was dragged up on her first night in jail.

"What are you guys going to do?" Astrid defended herself against the malicious inmates who surrounded her. "Don't come near me. Or I'll call the prison guard."

The female prisoners around her were not scared after hearing what she said. Instead, they exchanged glances and burst out laughing.

One of the female prisoners' leaders pointed to Astrid. "What exactly did you say? Call the prison guard?” She then slapped Astrid across the face. “Scream, now! And call the guard!"

Due to the woman's force, Astrid was unable to stand firmly. Her ears were buzzing from the impact. As she stood up, she grabbed the wall for support and slapped the woman.

For a brief moment after the slap, the cell was deafeningly quiet. Nobody expected this delicate woman to have the courage to fight back.

This tough lady was enraged by Astrid's slap. Her eyes turned bright red, and she screamed. "Fuck it! Pounce on her! Hit her hard," she said. "In any case, Mr. Smith issued the order. We can do whatever we want as long as we don't kill her!" she added.

Astrid was taken aback. A sharp pain spread throughout her body.

'Marcus Smith!'

Astrid's hands and feet trembled. Her heart had been broken!

It's no surprise that no prison guards came over. No wonder the female prisoners who surrounded her were so confident.

Astrid stood up and ran toward the jail door, looking up at the female prisoners. "Help!" she yelled as she clutched the iron fence. "Help! Someone, please help!"

Knowing there would be no prison guards, she could only desperately call for help!

She was betting Marcus wouldn't let these female prisoners take good care of her, even if the chances were minimal. She was still under the impression that Marcus couldn't mistreat her.

“Ah!” A woman dragged Astrid's hair. In pain, she lost her balance and was carried to the ground. She had never felt so humiliated in her life!

The next thing Astrid knew, she was dragged up by her hair and beaten and kicked. She could only groan in shame on the ground.

“Ugh!”

She stopped yelling and let these women punch her in the face. In her ears, she could only hear their cheerful laughter.

She sought assistance not because she feared being beaten or in pain but because she still believed in hope.

After a while, those people became tired and went to bed.

Astrid was in agony on the ground, tears streaming down the corners of her eyes. Tears clouded her face. Others in her situation had never bullied her. All of this happened because she fell in love with Marcus, an evil person.

Why did Astrid have to bear Marcus's rage and hatred because of what happened to Talia?

She stated her case. She could never and wouldn’t ever hurt Talia.

Even though she tried her hardest to explain it, no one believed her.

Astrid desperately explained that it was not her who invited Talia to ABC Club but that Talia was curious about the bar club and invited her to go with her.

Others saw her, the eldest lady of the Levine family, as open and careless.

Talia was uncomplicated, pure, and fearful. How could she voluntarily request to go to a bar or a club?

Astrid's car broke down at the time, so she didn't make it to the bar. Nobody believed in her. They all assumed she was contending, that s he purposefully left Talia alone in the ABC so that the gangsters she bribed could rape her.

But the thought never occurred to her.

Talia frequently told her she had no feelings for Marcus.

So, how can Marcus be Talia's boyfriend when Talia doesn't even like him?

And now Astrid was a murderous woman who did everything wrong!

These gangsters were probably aware that chaos was on the way. As a result, they all went missing. Nobody knew where they were hiding. It was typical of murderers hiding in remote mountains and forests for more than a decade.

Astrid hoped those cops would catch them before someone else did.

Astrid suspected that she had been framed.

She shed a few tears. She was convinced she was innocent following the incident until she was arrested. She didn't do anything wrong.

But she realized that as long as Marcus believed she was guilty, she deserved to die.

Marcus meant all of these things.

Who knows how many orders Marcus issued to others to punish her on the inside?

Marcus took everything from her. Her family, her files, her academic credentials... and she was imprisoned. He destroyed all evidence of her existence. And from then on, she was simply a detainee.

Astrid hugged her knees even more tightly. Marcus completely erased all evidence of her existence.

EARLY in the morning.

"Hey, get up. Go clean the toilet!" A female prisoner shoved Astrid, but she screamed in terror. “She’s dead?”

Another woman rushed over to check on her. “She’s still alive! Call the prison guard!”

Astrid was rescued back. However, this was not always a good thing. Endless humiliation and torture would drive people insane and completely transform them.
