The arrival

"ION!" I hear a voice outside this place.

"RION!" this voice will not stop.

"Darion! Wake up!" I wake up, and I no longer find myself in that place. By blinking, I begin to understand whose voice it is.

"Jeff? What's going on?" The moon is still out, why did it wake me up so early?

"Come on, get dressed! The orks are coming, we have to hurry." she throws my clothes at me as he takes some of his personal items.

'Wait what?! the orks?' I can't believe they've come this far. "How did they reach us? Is the Baron's grounds enough within the whole area?"

"What do you want me to know? Get dressed!" I start walking out the door as I dress quickly 'May the luck be with us'

I leave the room with my clothes on and the notebook with the Baroness's lessons, written here. There is a lot of movement in the mansion, everyone brings something precious for themselves, forgetting about the superfluous.

'Where did Jeff go? maybe from Aldo?' after a few steps I reach the entrance to the mansion and go out.

In the main courtyard, I find the people I've been looking for, including the Baron's family.

"How soon will they reach us?" The baron seems to be conversing with the matron, Aldo is Jeff.

"They told me they'll be here in about thirty minutes." Josh answers as he adjusts the leather armor he's wearing.

'I always suspected that old man might do more than meets the eye.' I walk until I reach them.

"You finally arrived, I was beginning to believe that your intent was to wait for the orcs in the chamber, to welcome them." Jeff whispers to me.

"In your dreams, what are they discussing?" I ask Jeff, noticing a sword at his belt.

"Listen and you will find out." he turns to hear what the baron is saying.

"Okay, then we have to hurry. Josh, gather everyone who can fight, Aldo help and protect the civilians who are leaving the village, Jeff and Darion will support you in the task. Linda, take Gilberta and go with the civilians." Gilberta takes a step forward hearing the Baron's words.

"But father, I'm in the 20th grade, I know how to fight too." Gilberta doesn't want to be protected like any civilian.

'If only I had some Astra in my body, I could help protect the village as well.' how useless I am.

"No, the Orks are not an enemy for a beginner, listen Gilberta, I know you are very talented and I can't wait to do your part...but this is not the day. I am proud of you and your beliefs , but you still have to prepare for such a fight. 'Survive today to fight tomorrow' get it?" The Baron places his hands on Gilberta's shoulders, and looks straight into her eyes as he pronounces these sentences.

"I... all right, I'll do as you say, father. But at least I'll help Aldo protect the civilians." Gilberta let herself be persuaded, but she still doesn't want to stand by and watch some of us fight to protect their home.

"Ahaha alright, good girl." The baron laughs, rubbing his hair on his daughter's head. "Linda, please guide our people to safety from the Marquis, he will surely protect these people." Endrick approaches Linda and starts hugging her as she says these words to him.

"Definitely Baron... I love you, darling." Linda cannot help sentimentality, even in front of people, and she begins to kiss the baron.

'This is love, who knows if one day I will know it too.' to be honest, i envy the connection the baron and baroness have. Initially theirs was an arranged marriage, but over time they respected each other, eventually falling in love. It doesn't always happen in arranged marriages, which is more unique than rare.

"And you, Baron, what will you do?" Jeff wants to know the Baron's intentions.

"I will lead the defense of the village, consisting of the patrol and citizens capable of handling a weapon, to repel the invaders." if I'm not mistaken the village patrol consists of only ten soldiers, who are only in their 20th rank.

'Repel? I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling." Looking back, I realize I wasn't even given a sword.

"Hey Jeff, at least give me a sword, how am I going to fight?" I ask my colleague for a weapon.

"Weapon? Don't make me laugh, brother, it's true that you too will have to do your part, but it won't be fighting that you will help us. Your job is to assist the elderly and the less well-off, go through uncomfortable places for a walk." What the hell, am I supposed to be a cane of old age? Are you joking? ok i don't have Astra, but i know the basics of fencing, i have to at least see the results of all that training.

"Okay, start the evacuation, time is running out. Josh, when you're done recruiting volunteers, meet me at the entrance to the village, that's where the orks will attack if I remember correctly." The Baron asks for confirmation of old Josh's information.

"Yes, Baron, that's where the assault will take place." Josh finishes fixing his armor. "Now, with your permission, I will recruit someone to defend the village." he starts looking for someone who can fight.

"I'm going there too, Aldo, do your best, the road that leads to the Marquis' city mustn't be dangerous... I entrust my people to you." The baron doesn't even wait for an answer, as he moves towards the entrance of the village, followed by ten soldiers who are part of the village patrol.

"Of course, my lord, good luck to you all." Aldo greets the baron and the men who leave with him. "Jeff, Darion, let's gather the civilians in front of the mansion, and then we'll leave the village. Hurry and don't waste time, it's a matter of life and death." Aldo starts giving advice on what to do.

""Yes Lord!" we answer in unison, and immediately begin to gather people in front of the mansion.

After almost half an hour we managed to get as many people together as possible, it wasn't exactly a simple task, but it wasn't that complicated either. 'At first glance we look like about eighty people, apparently some citizens have already escaped on their own, I hope nothing bad happened to them.'

"Well, this is the best we could muster. People! Listen to me all, now we will all go together to the city of the Marquis, the journey should be smooth, but even if something should happen, let's stick together and help each other, only then can we to survive." Aldo gets on what appears to be a hay cart, and begins to instruct the people gathered around here. "Remember what our baron has always taught us, and you will see that nothing bad can happen to us. Having said that, let's leave now!" he gets off the chariot and stands in front of the crowd, acting as a forerunner, guiding people to their destination.

I'm in the center of the line to help the elderly and the weakest, while Jeff and Gilberta close the line, a sort of rearguard. Our escape begins now.
