Chapter 13 - Lab Rat(Part 1)

"N-no, stop it, please don't do i-...arghhhhhhh!" I yelled out in agony, as an excruciating pain burst through my body.

"How fascinating...look at this. The blood we extracted from him body, it seems to be reacting to the pain he's feeling."

"Amazing, it's almost like the blood has a mind of its own. I've never seen anything like it."

I-it hurts, it's hurts so damn much...!

"Y-you bastards, I'll...I'll kill you, I'll fucking-...argghhhhh!" I began, before crying out in pain as the immense agony suddenly intensified and spiked drastically.

"Go easy, it'd be a huge waste if he dies. Let's move on, inject the new formula."

"Alright, shutting off the nerve probes. Injecting the formula now."

As the pain then began to fade, I felt several syringes piercing onto my arms and the sides of my neck, injecting something into me.

I let out a weak groan as my vision suddenly became loopy and spinny, as if I was dizzy. It quickly started to fade after a few seconds, as I struggled in futility to break free of my restraints.

"Hm, the formula is already being nullified inside his body...looks like we won't need the antidote, as usual."

"Damn, that's a lethal poison, and he's recovering from it in seconds? I'm almost envious."

"Inject him with a larger dosage, keep the antidote ready just in case."

"Right, got it."

This is hell...an endless nightmare I have no escape from. The men who killed my parents sold me to a research group who experiment on Alters...I don't even know how long I've been here.

Every single day, for several hours at a time, they experiment on me mercilessly, I've been cut open, subjected to various forms of pain and injected with a wide variety of drugs and poisons.

The Suppression Collar is still on me, but they've tweaked it to allow me to heal. That's all though, the rest of my powers are suppressed...so I'm helpless to defend myself.

I...I can't take it anymore, please just let them kill me already. Living like this is far worse than death, so please, kill me, I-I've...I've had enough.

"I think we've adequately tested the limits of his healing prowess, it's clearly beyond anything we've ever seen. I think we can move on to the next phase now...is the chip ready to be implanted yet?"

"Not quite, but it should be ready any day now. We're just making sure that there aren't any oversights or loopholes he can exploit."

"Good, we can't afford to be careless...we need him fully under out control."

What...what are they talking about?

"Hey, there, how are you doing today?" One of them, I think the head researcher, inquired as he leaned over me on the operating table with a chilling smile, "I've got good news for you. You're not gonna have to go through all this pain anymore...so long as you cooperate obediently for the next phase of our little project, you won't have to suffer."

I don't know why, but he always makes it a point to talk to me during these experiments. Seeing his face fills me with a mix of rage and fear, along with murderous intent.

He introduced himself the first time they experimented on me, while my stomach was being cut open. I think he said his name is Alok Das...he looks about middle aged, with slicked back black hair that was slightly graying and a short, thick beard.

He had brown skin, black eyes and was a bit on the fatter side, and always had a creepy, emotionless smile on his face, with a dark look in his eyes.

"F...fuck you, asshole...," I muttered weekly.

"Hm, charming as always, I see. Alright, let's put him to sleep for a while, shall we? Pump him full of the stuff and set the collar to full suppression mode," He instructed the others.

"I swear, I'll kill you, you fucking bastard. Even if it's the last thing I do, I'll...I'll kill you...," I declared, trailing off as an immense drowsiness washed over me, my vision blurring and darkening rapidly.

"What a terrifying empty threat that is. Just accept it, already...you're nothing but a lab rat, you belong to...," He chuckled, the rest of what he said unclear as my consciousness faded...

...

...

Hm...? Where am I? Everything's dark all around me...

"How disappointing. I expected more from the one I chose to be my successor."

Oh. It's been a while since I heard this voice.

"Well, screw you, Mr Progenitor. I didn't ask for this!" I snapped in response.

"I can only hope that, eventually...you'll understand what you need to do."

"Yeah, keep hoping all you want. But you better set yourself up for disappointment."

"Yes...perhaps I should."

.

I woke up with a sharp gasp, grimacing as I sat up, my head pounding.

"Welcome back. It's been a while...well, as far as you're concerned, it probably feels like hardly any time has passed," Alok Das greeted me with that creepy smile, as I let out a slight groan.

Huh? I'm not restrained, even the Suppression Collar has been taken off...I'm in a room, alone with him. I don't know what's going on here, but...

"I'm gonna k-...!" I began to snap as I sprang onto my feet, abruptly interrupted as my body was suddenly wracked with an immense, devastating pain.

I...I-I can't even cry out in pain, it's like every single cell in my body is on fire and being stabbed by thousands of needles...

"Hahaha, hurts, doesn't it!? Feel the back of your neck. We've implanted a chip in there, it'll inflict your entire body with unimaginable pain should you show any aggression towards us, or try to escape, or disobey us, and so on. Basically, anything that'd count as going against us. Naturally, you try to tear out the chip, that'll trigger it too," He informed me with an amused chuckle.

So, this is my life, huh? Sorry, Mr Progenitor, but even if I wanted to, I don't think I'm gonna be able to follow in your footsteps or whatever anytime soon...
