Following a miserable, wretched life and a tragic, untimely death, the protagonist finds himself reincarnated as a baby in a different world to the one he was in before. In this world, there are people with special powers, known as Alters.

However, Alters are a minority in this world, and are discriminated against severely. Initially believe that he doesn't possess any powers, the protagonist soon realizes that he has inherited an ancient power, a power that only one other being has previously possessed in this world.

Black Blood, the power that had originated in the Progenitor of Alters, the very first human to develop powers in this world, and from whom all existing Alters are descended from. 

Determined to avoid going through the strife and hardship of his previous life, the protagonist decides to keep his powers hidden and strive to live a peaceful life in this new world. 

But it doesn't last long, his peaceful life is shattered and he gets thrust into the cruel reality of this world, a world wracked with prejudice and conflict. And it soon becomes apparent to him, that any peace he had hoped to find in this world, he would have to fight for... 

What lies in wait for him in this new world? Will he find peace in this world, or is he destined for something darker? What's the secret behind the power of his Black Blood? There's only one way to find out...

"Wait, that's how you were caught? I thought you must've been, like, traced online or something...I don't really know how hacking works, but I just assumed you got caught because of some mistake you made while hacking into something," I remarked in bemusement.

"Hey, don't insult me. My hacking skills are top-notch, I'll have you know," He huffed indignantly.

"Maybe so, but if you ask me, getting caught because of a small technical mistake you made seems way less embarrassing than how you actually got caught..."

A couple of weeks or so have passed, not really sure exactly how long I've been here...it's just like my time as a lab rat, I've completely lost track of time at this point.

It was currently around 1 PM in the afternoon, according to the clock I was staring at, and I was in the dining hall, having lunch with Eland. As for what we're talking about...he just got done telling me how and why he was arrested.
