Following a miserable, wretched life and a tragic, untimely death, the protagonist finds himself reincarnated as a baby in a different world to the one he was in before. In this world, there are people with special powers, known as Alters.

However, Alters are a minority in this world, and are discriminated against severely. Initially believe that he doesn't possess any powers, the protagonist soon realizes that he has inherited an ancient power, a power that only one other being has previously possessed in this world.

Black Blood, the power that had originated in the Progenitor of Alters, the very first human to develop powers in this world, and from whom all existing Alters are descended from. 

Determined to avoid going through the strife and hardship of his previous life, the protagonist decides to keep his powers hidden and strive to live a peaceful life in this new world. 

But it doesn't last long, his peaceful life is shattered and he gets thrust into the cruel reality of this world, a world wracked with prejudice and conflict. And it soon becomes apparent to him, that any peace he had hoped to find in this world, he would have to fight for...

Ohh, how I've been waiting for this...! I've been growing out my fingernails on my right hand, since I need something sharp to break through the outer casing of the collar.

"Here I go. Open up the tank of the toilet and get some water to splash onto it once I've broken through, that'll-...," I began, before trailing off as I began to pierce my nails into the collar, a powerful electric shock hitting me as I let out a sharp gasp and collapsed onto the floor, my body paralyzed.

"H-huh? No, that can't be right...I-I tested it out so many times, this should've worked!" He frowned in alarm.

"W-was it the exact same model...?" I gasped weakly, struggling to get up.

"Yeah, I'm sure of it! The one I got my hands on and tested looked exactly the same, so this should've worked! I can't understand why-...!" He began with a shake of his head.
