About two months later.
"Do you think it is the right decision?" Hure asked. From her expression, Thyra could understand she wasn't happy.
"Why are you asking me that?" Thyra shrugged. "Why don't you ask that girl?"
Hure sighed and flopped on her chair, mumbling, "Just when I was thinking that Nisa was becoming the perfect wife for my lady, and…"
"Is it me, or has Hure started to act like a mother to Nisa?" Jullia was sitting on the chair. She was wearing an eye patch, and there was a scar on her stomach around her navel.
It was the prize from the fight against the ducal family. Although she was able to escape with her life, she had to recover for more than a month. As she had failed to use the normal recovery potion quickly enough, she was unable to recover her eyes.
"But is it true that she is a Soothsayer?" Jullia couldn't help asking.
"I think it is true," Hure explained in a serious tone. "She said she is the granddaughter of the Doodmaak tribe's shaman."
"Is there something special about the Doodmaak tribe?" Thyra couldn't help but feel curious about Nisa's origin.
"How could I know?" Hure shrugged. "There are too many barbarian tribes in this world. They do too many freaky things for us to understand."
Seeing that Thyra was still curious about it, Jullia explained, "Mana, Knightly energy, essence energy; whatever you call it, they are all the same. The name differs depending upon the process of how you utilise it."
"However, the kingdom's people only use these three processes because we know how to control them." Hure started from where Jullia stopped, "The Eder empire dabbled in shamanism, while the eastern domain used the celestial energies."
"So the tribes used some different processes too?" Thyra got the gist of it.
Jullia nodded, saying, "Like the rock sloth tribe Rika is part of, worship the ancient spirit of Rock Sloth. So all of their tribe's women use the same energy. It is the same for other barbarians that live on this continent."
"But the Doodmaak tribes are from the other continent." Thyra had heard about it from Nisa.
"I know that they use spiritual energy too. However, they awaken an ability upon maturity. Like you can have only one essence, you can have only one ability in the entire life."
"So, Nisa's ability is to see the future." Thyra nodded. Although it sounded enticing, Thyra wasn't too worried about it. After all, even without the ability, she knows a lot about the future.
"If that is the case, then I think my lady made the wrong decision by divorcing her." Jullia nodded.
"It doesn't matter what type of ability she had. She was my lady's first wife. Do you know how the other nobles would react if they knew that my lady had divorced her first wife?"
Thyra sighed, asking, "Tell me what good her ability would bring me if she stayed at the mansion and I fought a war?"
"You, that means…" Jullia couldn't contain her laughter. "You have learned to think one step ahead of Hure."
"Shut up." Hure wasn't ready to accept it. "Did you just divorce your wife just because you could bring her to the war? Are you mad?"
"First of all, it wasn't my idea. It was hers. That was also why she was training after that day." Thyra looked at Hure and said seriously, "Most importantly, she wasn't my type. I have Aria, you, or Jullia. Even Rika is great. Why do I have to have someone like her as my wife?"
"Because no one other than a noble-borne can be your wife." Hure was really angry.
"Then find me a daughter of a noble. I am a royal knight now. There should be some countryside baron who would let his daughter marry me or something."
Hure glared at Thyra momentarily before storming out of the room. Looking at her back, Thyra added, "I think that girl had really charmed her."
Jullia smirked, adding, "No, Hure was always like that. She was like that with you, too. But now that you have started acting more mature, she has turned her attention to Nisa. She always had this motherly side to her. It was just her bad luck that she didn't get the chance to have one of her own."
There was an odd silence between them before Thyra pulled out a box and gave it to Jullia.
"What is it?"
"It's just a potion. A regrowth potion. It is better than an advanced healing potion. Even if the wound is over ten years old, it can recover. However, it will be very painful."
Juliana looked at the brightly coloured potion before looking at Thyra. She wasn't sure what to say. She made all of the purchases, whether it was the essence for the armies, raw materials, or food. She was sure she had never brought them.
"What are you looking at?" Thyra asked. "That eye patch doesn't look good on you. I don't want to see you in that tomorrow morning."
"I can't take it." Jullia closed the box.
"Good, I have just paid 350 gold coins for a potion that I will not use. Good. Then, on your way out, dump it somewhere. If you don't want to use it, I really have no use for it. Just throw it away."
Thyra noticed Jullia was looking away. She didn't say anything and waited for Jullia to recover. To make matters worse, as she was staring at the door, it opened, and Hure entered the room.
They stared at each other briefly before Hure asked, "Are you crying?"
Jullia didn't waste a moment before running out of the room. Hure asked Thyra for an explanation, to which she replied, "She is just too happy to see you."
Hure looked at Thyra and shook her head. She put down two letters on the table, saying, "These two arrived today when you were training at the barracks."
"The first thing is…" Hure sighed, saying, "It's a marriage proposal."
Thyra smiled, asking, "Do you think I am the one who can see the future?"
However, the jokes didn't bring a smile to Hure's face. She seriously continued, "Your Majesty has already decided on this marriage. So, all you can do is accept it."
"It's a woman, right?"
Hure nodded, adding, "She is the daughter of a Count from Rex kingdom."
Thyra couldn't help frowning. That was one of the places she wanted to avoid. After all, it's the kingdom of the real MC. And even if this country's civil war is still three years away, the Rex kingdoms will start soon.
'Whatever. It is not like I have to fight in their war just because I am married to one of the nobles. More importantly, we will have our war soon.'
"My lady would already have joined the war by the time the envoy reached here. It will take about three months."
"I will leave these things to you."
Hure nodded and pushed a letter towards her. Unlike the last one, it was unopened. She said, "It's from the mercenaries we had sent to scout."
Thyra poured her mana into the letter, and it opened on its own. There was only one line on it.
[Attacks by orcs, kobolds, and goblins have been reported in the border towns.]
