Dali was looking at the woman sitting opposite her. Although it felt like Nisa had a foul mouth, she was not the heartless one.
They were riding a carriage to the city center, and for some reason, Dali had two cushions to sit on.
When asked, Nisa said to throw it out if she didn't like sitting on it.
Although Dali wasn't sure if Nisa was telling the truth or the reason why she divorced Thyra, she could still think of some reason why Thyra had decided to keep her with her even after the divorce.
"What are you looking at?" Nisa asked, noticing Dali's eyes on her.
Dali smiled and shook her head. Nisa frowned, saying, "If you are thinking of something unnecessary, I will advise you to forget it. Thyra wouldn't be so easygoing as she was in the bedroom. You better not get to the bad side."
"She was easy-going last night?" Dali couldn't help but repeat her words.
However, Nisa could clearly see that Dali was blushing, "Get your head out of the bedroom. Let me remind you if you try anything funny, Thyra won't let you go with a swift death. So, mind your action."
*Knock* *Knock*
The carriage had stopped while they were talking, and Nisa opened the door when she heard a knock.
Before Nisa could step out of the carriage, she frowned, asking, "What is that smell? What is happening here?"
Nisa paused, looked at her, adding, "You should stay inside."
Naturally, Dali wasn't going to do it and followed her.
With the first step, she stepped on the puddle, and as she was to say something, she looked down.
A chill went down her spine, and she stepped back, falling on the steps of the carriage.
"What is that?" she asked, pointing at the puddle of red liquid.
"That is blood," Nisa said. She was looking at the front.
As the carriage door blocked Dali's view, she could not tell what Nisa was looking at.
However, the horrifying screams and strong bloody smell made her doubt whether she wanted to know what she was seeing in the first place.
"How many?" She mumbled, staring at the blood flowing down the street. "How many did they kill to make the blood flow like this."
Nisa looked at her, sighing. The sight in front of her was shocking enough even to make her stomach churn.
Even many of the soldiers didn't dare to look at the site. She looked at Dali, adding, "Enough to reach the wall."
Dali looked up. From the steps of the carriage, she could see the walls around the city.
She had no way of believing her own words, even if she wanted to.
"Even if you murder Feitur and his entire family, it won't amount to that much. Did they kill all the soldiers of the city?"
Dali wasn't sure even such an action was enough to dye the city red to such a degree.
Dali still needed to be sure. "She didn't do it, did she?" she asked Nisa.
Dali only sighed in relief when she saw Nisa shake her head. But her next words were much more terrifying, "She slaughtered the entire empire's army."
Dali stared at her in utter disbelief before confirming it with her own eyes.
And she wished she didn't. The entire city center was dyed red. At the center, there was a makeshift stage, and it was the source of the blood river.
Behind it were the crosses, and dead bodies were hanging from them.
The day was bright, and she could see it clearly.
In the middle of the row of crosses, there were the two biggest crosses. One was a man she didn't know, and the other was Feitur. On his left were her husband and his family after that.
Even if she wanted her husband to die, some strings in her heart were still pulled when she thought about him dying. Yet, at this moment, she didn't feel anything.
No, she felt it.
She supported herself against the carriage and emptied her stomach.
Her body was hot, yet her palms were cold. She felt dizzy, yet she couldn't even understand what was wrong with her body.
After getting hold of her body, she looked at it, finding the man she had spent the night with on the cross.
Although she now knew it wasn't him, she still couldn't help but wonder how such a strong man ended up being a corpse.
"Who is she?"
At Dali's question, Nisa couldn't help but think Dali was mentally stronger than she looked.
She had no problem understanding who she was talking about. She pointed at the make-shift stage, saying, "The one carrying the axe is Thyra."
It was then that Dali looked at the stage. The city center was empty, so there was no obstacle.
But she was sure her eyes were secretly watching the ruthless execution process.
The very next moment, she realized that saying ruthless was an understatement.
A soldier forcefully brought a naked man to the stage. Put the man's head on the pillory and close it.
The naked man continued to struggle, but not for long.
It was a swift swing by the woman carrying the axe with the weirdly big head. The headless body continued to struggle, spraying blood all over the place.
After a couple of minutes, it stopped moving. One came and pulled the body into the pile that could reach the height of the wall if stacked, if not exceed it.
A soldier brought a cloth to Thyra while others opened the pillory for the next victim.
After wiping the blood off her face, Thyra turned her attention to the next victim before the last victim's blood could totally flow off the stage.
"She was going through them like they were some kind of chicken."
Dali looked at the person who appeared beside her, mumbling, "Barabarins."
"Careful," Nisa warned. "She is the second-in-command of the army."
"Don't worry about the little things." Rika smiled at Dali and patted her head, saying, "You are one lucky woman. You've already received her seeds. If only I were as lucky as you…" Rika sighed, adding, "I have to wait a year."
*Cough* cough*. Nisa coughed to attract Rika's attention and asked, "How many are there left?"
"Who knows." Rika shrugged her shoulders. "But I think she will be done soon. What about the main camp?"
"I have already sent the first batch. But Thyra had told me to look after her."
Dali couldn't wrap her head around all the information.
However, she couldn't help asking about one thing, "How many soldiers did you bring? I had heard that there were a thousand soldiers in the empire's army. Did you catch all of them? If you let some of them leave, they will come back with more soldiers."
"All of them are dead. Not a single one has escaped."
"Are you sure?"
"Including the servants, there were 1245 of them. We killed all of them."
"What about the city guards? Didn't they stop you?"
"Those who can are dead."
Dali really couldn't believe what she was hearing was true. She couldn't help asking again, "How many soldiers have you brought?"
"About 200."
"200!" Dali looked at both of them in utter disbelief, saying, "That is impossible."
"You don't need to worry about it." Rika rubbed her head, adding, "After all the actions, she will be extra stressed tonight. I need to inform Falvia to send an experienced one tonight. Or maybe I could…"
