Torrent Part 2

It was light, and it hit me, taking away my comfort, leaving me startled and in unrest. My parched throat opened up desperately for the water that fell down, but I was skeptical. I had never seen purple rain before. Yet my tree-like veins pulsated, it reacted to it like they had an affinity. I couldn't bear to question the color of the water any longer. I opened my mouth to catch as many droplets as I could. As I did, the rain poured down heavier, filling my stomach up with relief.

Then it got heavier and heavier. Soon, a pelt it down with a force determined to show its power. I shook my head to release the water that had gathered in my nose, opening my eyes to notice the flood that was forming around me. Even though I did not care to, I could not go back from where I came, since the water had filled up around me.

That was quick, too quick. It appeared there was an invisible shield that held the water from surrounding where I stood, drowning me.

"Why now?" I grunted.

My things were slid back into my sack in a hurry, for the water was coming for me all right.

I run for the bushes and pushing away branches. Running under branches and boughs in my desperate attempt to avoid my feet sliding in the wet crevices, my chest was pounding.

My feet stopped on a water surrounded mound, for before me, an interesting obstacle laid. A river of water had gathered somehow, blocking my path to go further, but still very much being the catalyst that caused my desire to travel further since I could no longer stay there. I understood that much from the message the pounding ring was sending on to my head and shoulders. I had to get across that river if I wanted to be safe. I just knew there was more to see. But how was I going to do that?

I thought about the giggle and the song. It must have come from somewhere. It was not just a hallucination since each time I heard it, something happened after, confirming its existence, which meant I was not alone. It was daylight now. I would be able to see if I called out, and so I did.

"Hello!"

Nothing.

"Hello!"

Still nothing.

"I know you're there. I heard from you. Why are you afraid? Show yourself."

Still nothing. I started to have doubts again. Maybe the only way I could get across this river was to swim across it. This seemed impossible, but if it was my only option, I had to try. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply before launching myself forward. Then I stopped. I opened my eyes and looked ahead. The more I looked at this river, the more I realized there was no way I can jump over this. Going around this was my best option. I walked around it looking for a way through it, but I could find nothing. Nothing in my bag was of any use to me now. I became overcome with emotion as I sat there afraid, wondering if this is how it would end, when I felt myself being lifted. What in the world was happening here?

I looked up into the trees; they had their wet branches, a lot of leaves. There were a few trees that had these huge leaves.

Through my eyes and the dim lights, I could see a pool of water shining through in the middle of those leaves. An idea came to mind, and it was an interesting one, but would it work? I climbed the tree with those leaves. It was difficult, for even though it was coarse and the surrounding vines were many, the bark was rather slippery in between the protruding bark and vines.

With the help of my knife, I cut the leaf. I cut some more leaves and allowed them to drop to the muddy floor. They wrapped and weaved into each other, with swift holes and strings webbed within. My fingers slipped constantly in my attempt, but once it has done. It looked sturdy enough. With some dexterity, I fell forward and into the falling leaf. It rolled on and I swayed back and forth as the leave rolled into the water that was streaming in between the sinking earth. This leaf was thick and held me very well, but I pulled the front back and with a thick string, I tied it between the halves. It placed me in a circular sway and I couldn't see in front of me.

Mud sputtered up on either side of the leaf as I tried to use my cupped hands to pool the water out of the leaf. My weight was terrible enough as it was.

He rolled on, being carried by the stream until he was pulled into a bigger flow of water. It was darker, and the mud was pulled into it in huge chunks.

I continued until it really got rough and I was shaking back and forth on my makeshift boat.

The rain slowed and drizzling into this grand land. I felt myself going lower as the discomfort raised in the pit of my stomach.

"Whoa!"

It was abrupt as I got shook out of the leaf and onto the wet grass. I groaned, looking up from the sliver of water that from a bird-eye view of my fluttering eyelashes. The sun seemed to sparkle with a mixture of shades, almost tie-dyed. My eyes floated around more evenly.
