By the look on Arwan's face, it seemed like it did take a while for him to understand what Seraphina just said, and the expression that appeared on his beautiful face was almost similar to that of Mortimer's.
"Your room?" He asked as if he was trying to confirm that he heard the word right. His voice was still quite deep and Seraphina realized that the man possessed a really beautiful deep voice.
"Well... I will get a room to stay here. Right?" She asked, getting confused whether she was supposed to live somewhere else and not in the castle since she wasn't married to the Shadow Lords, yet.
Arwan and Mortimer shared a quick look before the former quickly nodded his head. "Of course. However, we received news of your arrival barely an hour or so ago. So, there was no time to prepare a room for you."
"Oh." Seraphina let out the monotonous sound as she realized why both men reacted the way they did when she asked about her room. It turned out that she didn't have a room for herself in the castle to begin with.
Her inner thoughts must have been pretty evident on her face as Arwan added a moment later. "There are no bedrooms on the ground floor, and most of the rooms on first floor are occupied by me and my brothers. Still, the upper three floors are completely empty. If you aren't tired, you can take a look at the rooms and chose one for yourself. Mortimer will later clean it for you."
He waited for her response and when Seraphina finally nodded her head in approval, he seemed relieved. "Perfect then. I will leave you two then." He didn't wait for another moment and immediately left the hall once again. For all the five long minutes that he was there with her, she realized that not even once he looked at her with any sort of interest. On the other hand, she was struggling to look at anywhere but him.
All of a sudden, Seraphina felt self-conscious and quickly looked down at her body. Was she not appealing to these men? She suddenly found herself wondering, but she brushed away the idea as soon as it entered her brain. She had been known as the most beautiful woman of the country with a body and face of a Goddess. Men always ran around her, ready to worship her. So, there was no doubt that in appearance, she was perfect in every way possible.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when Mortimer started walking out of the Grand Hall and she quickly followed after him. Once again, the place outside the hall was filled with darkness and the candle in Mortimer's hand was the only source of light that kept her from tripping or bumping into something.
As they ascended the stairs and arrived on the first floor, Seraphina quickly looked around and found the entire floor filled with darkness. They quickly made their way to the second floor and as soon as they arrived there, she was met with a corridor covered in a heavy layer of dust.
She pulled her gown even higher to keep the bottom from getting dirty as she followed Mortimer who was on his way to open the door of the first room. One look inside the room and she quickly shook her head in denial. The room was just too small and dirty.
Second and third rooms were decent in size but just as dirty as the first one. By the time she had a look at the fourth room, she understood that the entire floor hadn't been cleaned since ages. When they arrived at the fifth room, Seraphina finally halted. It was a huge room, almost bigger than the size of two rooms combined. Though it was completely empty, there was still a huge bed sitting against the wall that drew her attention.
When Seraphina wasn't working as the mafia queen, she used to enjoy her time working as the renowned interior designer. Interior design was her passion and her dream until she had to take over the conglomerate after her father and elder brother's deaths right a week before her eighteenth birthday.
Still, she didn't give up on her passion and continued pursuing it whenever she got a chance. As she looked around the room in front of her eyes, she was able to see it with the eyes of an expert who knew that the place could be turned into a beautiful and safe sanctuary.
Her eyes then shifted to the huge open window that was outlooking at the backyard of the castle. There was a door on the other side of the room and when she opened it, she found another room attached to it. This one wasn't too big, but still quite decent in size.
"I will take this one." She announced to Mortimer who had been silently showing her around the room with the help of the candle.
"I will go and bring you a new set of bed covers, My Lady." Mortimer said as he placed the candle stand on the floor as there was no other safe place to put it.
"Mortimer." Seraphina called out to the man before he could have left the room.
"Yes, My Lady?" The man turned to face her and waited to hear what she had to say.
"Please bring me couple more candles, and can you please also take care of daily necessities? I didn't bring any clothes or other essentials with me." Seraphina put forward the request as he was the only person there who could help her.
"Sure, My Lady." Mortimer replied with a polite bow before he left the room. Five minutes later, he returned with several sets of bed covers, blankets, curtains, and a huge box of candles and a matchbox.
"Your clothes and other items will arrive in the morning, My Lady." The man informed her and when she nodded her head in understanding, he once again left the room, leaving her on her own to arrange her bed.
"Looks like I need to clean this mess on my own." She muttered to herself as she moved toward the bed.
"Of course, you have to."
