The Broken Glass

One moment everything was silent, peaceful, and dark, and the very next moment, Seraphina found herself walking down a familiar hallway.

The soft, echoing tap of her footsteps against the stone floor resonated through the dim corridor, filling the silence with a haunting melody. She glanced around, confused yet curiously calm, even though her brain was struggling to understand how she arrived there.

Just moments before, she had been in her own room, climbing into bed after a long, exhausting day. The warmth of her blankets had just started to soothe her into sleep. She could remember the soft pillow cradling her head, the heavy feeling of her eyelids drooping shut, and then... this.

She couldn't place why or how. Her fingers brushed against the cool, rough stone of the wall as she walked, grounding herself in this surreal experience.
