The Marigold Flowers

Nedda clapped her hands several times and showed an enthusiastic demeanor. "When my soldiers were hunting in the magical forest, they accidentally found a dragon egg left behind by its mother. I thought this magical beast could become powerful in the future, so I wanted to give it to you."

Roxana closed the box with a bang, then pushed it toward Nedda. "You might get a lot of profit if you sell it instead of giving it to me."

"My niece is more important than money, so just accept it, or you can throw it away if you don't like it," Nedda retorted.

Roxana sighed. There was no way she could throw away such a precious gift. Moreover, dragons were rare magical beasts and valued highly by magical beast sellers.

"Thank you, Aunt." Roxana bowed her head briefly. "I will return your kindness to me."

Nedda waved her hand quickly. "No. No. No. You don't need to return anything. I'm already happy as long as you can live a healthy and good life."

Before Roxana could thank her for the umpteenth time, Nedda was already walking toward the door and saying goodbye. "I have to go now. Lizzie started to chew my hair because she felt hungry."

Roxana glanced at Lizzie, the lizard, who was putting Nedda's hair in her mouth. The iguana narrowed her eyes at Roxana as if she wanted Roxana to no longer hold back Nedda's departure.

Nedda and her servants had left Roxana's bedroom within seconds, and the room had become quiet again.

She breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed the muscles in her body when no one was around anymore. Although she didn't hate Nedda's presence, Roxana still didn't like talking to people for long periods.

"Roxie, is this little egg truly a dragon egg?"

Roxana was startled and jumped back as Damian suddenly stood in front of her as she turned around. The demon tossed around the dragon egg in his hand, then brought the egg closer to his eyes to see it more clearly.

Roxana quickly snatched the egg before Damian accidentally cracked it. "Where have you been? Didn't I ask you to come back here immediately?"

Instead of answering, Damian put his hand inside his coat and looked like he was searching for something. When he took his hand out of his coat, Roxana's eyes were met with a bunch of marigolds that emerged brightly yellow and orange.

The flower petals had double blooms and were composed of many small, densely packed petals that created a full, rounded shape.

"I saw many women in Oberon wearing this flower decoration on their heads or dresses." Damian frowned as he twirled the marigold bouquet in his hands. "Why do they like this flower so much? In hell, marigolds symbolize death, so no one would ever think of using them as decoration."

"Do the women of Oberon want to die quickly?" asked him.

Roxana let out a rough sigh after hearing Damian's words. She took over the bouquet of marigolds from Damian's hand, then put it into an empty vase.

"In Oberon, marigolds symbolize good luck and happiness." Roxana plucked one of the marigold's reddish-yellow petals and blew it at Damian. "Some people also think the color of this flower is similar to sunlight."

For this reason, the people of Oberon associated the flowers' yellow and red hues with the warmth of the sun or the sacred fire. Moreover, women in Oberon tended to love it due to its beautiful vibrant color.

"Instead of sunlight, they should have equated this flower with hellfire." Damian caught the petals of the flower that Roxana was blowing. "However, I think these flowers suit you, My Lady."

Roxana, "Why do you think so?"

Damian showed his sly smile to Roxana. "Because you are very close to death and hell."

The words spoken by Damian were not just an idiom but the truth. Roxana had bound a contract with the demon ruling hell, and she had caused many deaths once Damian stood by her side,

"If being near death and hell allows me to take revenge, then I like it," Roxana declared.

Damian chuckled, amused by Roxana's answer. He approached Roxana, then lifted her chin. "My Lady, you are truly fascinating."

Roxana shook her head to release Damian's grip. She stopped talking nonsense and began to discuss serious matters. "Next week, we will return to Oberon."

"Oh, that fast? I thought those humans took years to fix your house," Damian said.

Although Damian often came to Oberon to observe the people there, he had never visited Oberon's manor, so he was unaware of the repair progress of the magnificent building.

"They are the builder wizards. They can build and repair a building in a short time using magic. Therefore, they didn't need a long time to fix Oberon's Manor," Roxana explained.

Roxana closed the balcony door when she heard the sound of thunder from outside. Black clouds already covered the entire sky, and drizzle began to fall from the sky.

"If you've returned to Oberon, then the nobles will begin to pressure Oberon's descendants to inherit the Duchess's position." Damian tapped his finger on his chin. "Since you and Rosaline are twins, perhaps you should attend court to fight over the title of Duchess."

After removing the pearl accessories in her hair, Roxana sat on the bed. She glanced at Damian, who was slowly walking to the bed. "You've only been coming to the human world for two weeks, but your political knowledge is already great."

Damian laughed. "I'm a fast learner. Besides, if I want to help you fight the people in the political seats, I must also study and observe them."

Damian then knelt before Roxana. He removed the shoes on her feet, then kissed her instep while his red eyes locked his gaze on Roxana's blue eyes. "Tell me your next target, My Lady. I'll destroy them just like I burned your parents."

Roxana lowered her head so their faces were getting closer, making her silver hair cover her and Damian's faces. "My sister."

The ocean in her eyes began to surround by a storm, making her gaze look malicious. "Our next target is Rosaline Oberon. I want you to make me win in court so I can get the title of Duchess."
