"You don't have proof to justify your words." Esmeralda laughed to ease her heart. "You are just bluffing so I can testify for you."

Esmeralda thought Roxana needed her testimony so badly that she wouldn't dare kill or harm her. Besides, she didn't admit to any of the accusations made by Roxana, so there was no reason for her to be afraid.

"Indeed, I don't have a proof."

Roxana lowered her head for a second and suddenly said something that gave Esmeralda goosebumps. "However, I can force you to confess. I mean, if you don't want to help me, isn't it pointless for me to let you live comfortably?"

Esmeralda's heart pounded in her chest as she listened to Roxana's menacing words. Fear seeped into every fiber of her body, causing her body to tremble involuntarily.

Her eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape but finding none. The walls seemed to close in on her, suffocating her with their oppressive presence.
