Jolene recently bought the inn. With no husband and daughter, she offered Helena to stay in one of the rooms for free.
"You have no place to stay and I have no one to help me run this inn. You can stay in one of the rooms for free, but in exchange, work here for the meantime." Jolene said.
"I'm a fugitive. What if someone sees me here? I'll be a nuisance and will put you in danger." She reasoned.
Jolene chuckled. "I'll tell them you're my daughter. Besides, you need a place so you could start your plan."
She nodded and didn't bother to argue with the woman.
"Why do you want to go to Elysium? You're a Baroness and will be allowed to enter even without a residence there." She commented.
Jolene stared at her. "I'm really curious about you. You don't know anything about Elysium, but you said you've been a rogue and a fugitive for two years."
Her heart raced and didn't know how she would respond. She wasn't sure if Jolene would believe that she was a human in her past life.
"Is this your second life?" Jolene suddenly followed a question that surprised her.
From her reaction, Jolene quickly knew that she asked the right question.
"What are you in your past life? Are you human?" Jolene continued to ask.
She couldn't answer her back. She stared at Jolene and felt that the woman had no bad intentions toward her. She had nothing and only death awaits her if she would get caught so getting involved with her would just put someone in danger.
She sighed and decided to tell Jolene about Amelia Stanford.
"I was a princess. A human. My name is Amelia Stanford." She started.
Jolene's eyes widened, proof that she knew her.
She nodded. "Yes. I am that princess or I was. I was sent to Zedora to be Alpha Lucian's bride. My father, King Magnus, told me it was to keep the peace between the mortals and the immortals. But after three months of being his Luna, I was murdered. By him."
Jolene frowned. "Your parents, the King and Queen of Terraria, were killed."
She nodded and rage quickly filled her heart. She gritted her teeth, remembering her family's downfall.
"But did you know the reason you were killed? How about your parents?" Jolene asked.
"I have no idea. I received a letter from my father that my mother was missing so I decided to visit them. That alpha offered to accompany me and the next thing I knew, I was dying." She said.
Jolene stood up and walked toward a small box. She picked it up and dropped it on the table.
"What's that?" She asked.
"Some things I gathered while I was traveling. You see, I was originally from Zedora and a member of the Moon Shadows Pack. I come from a family of omegas. I'm a half-breed, a half-mortal." Jolene confessed.
Maybe that was the reason she couldn't sense any danger or malice toward Jolene. She had mortal blood running through her veins.
Jolene handed her some papers and photos. Most of them were taken in Zedora. But there was a writing about the last mortal king of Terraria and the Human Luna of the Moon Shadows Pack.
"I wasn't convinced that everything Alpha Lucian said was true. So I took and kept every paper I could collect."
With a clenched fist, she kept on reading. Her heart was shattered into pieces learning the events that happened on the day she was murdered.
"This is all a lie. I never cheated on him. And my father would never betray the werewolves." She exclaimed.
Based on the story Lucian had created, she was a tainted princess and slept with different men. She ran away with her lover and was killed by the same man. Her body was never found.
Another funny story was about her father. It was said that King Magnus planned on attacking Zedora and tried to kill Lucian. But her father was killed by her ex-husband instead. As for her mother, she was found dead in one of the towers in the palace.
"Who would believe such nonsense?"
"Almost everyone. I'm just one of those few citizens of Zedora who did not believe in the Alpha's lies." Jolene answered.
"And why didn't you believe him?" She asked.
Jolene smiled and showed her another photo. It was Amelia Stanford.
"That's the orphanage you built during your days as Luna. My husband and I couldn't have children, maybe because I'm half-mortal so I came to that orphanage once and adopted one of the kids there. I saw you and I really felt your kindness and sincerity toward the citizens of Zedora."
She let out a bitter laugh. "I was. And I was so stupid back then. So when they left me to die, I prayed. Do you know who I asked for help? The Moon Goddess. I told her that if I will be reborn, I will destroy her creation—the werewolves. She did grant me my wish. But look at me. I'm a werewolf myself and worst of all, a rogue and a fugitive."
Jolene listened to her rant about the goddess. She had been wanting to scream and vent out her anger, but she had no one to talk to.
"So, what if you're a werewolf?" Jolene stared at her.
She frowned. "What?"
Jolene took a deep breath. "Your resolve, what is it? You are here to avenge your family, right? You are alive because you wanted justice for your death. Are you going to stop because you are now one of the species you hated the most?
"No! Why would I? The sole purpose of this life is vengeance. I have to be someone that no one could trample. So I have to be the Queen of Elysium. And from there, I will crash down every pack and kingdom that belongs to the werewolves." She said in a firm tone.
Jolene smiled. "Then why don't you start by accepting my offer?"
