An enraged Omega

Bry's POV

I slowly opened my eyes. It hurts a bit as if something heavy was placed on the lids. A white ceiling came into focus the moment I blinked.

"Brys!"

Ray's familiar voice startled me. I tried to turn, but a pain on the side of my neck caused me to wince.

Did I break my neck? I wondered, trying to recall what happened the last time I was awake. My memory is a bit hazy. Yet, I can recall facing off the Alpha from the other pack.

"Brys!" Ray touched my arm.

I slowly turned to look at him. His red hair looked like something a bird nested on before they decided to seek a place better than those masses of red hair. His green eyes gazed at me with emotions I have never seen in them before.

He looked sad, angry, afraid, nervous and anxious. I raised a brow, confused by all the emotions swirling in his eyes. The light glint which was always present in his eyes is no more.

"Ray?" I managed to croak out, feeling the dryness of my throat.

"You scared me!" He wrapped his hands around my neck and placed his face in my left neck, which was thankfully not the one in pain. His heartbeat was so loud, it was almost deafening.

"What happened?" I groaned, trying to get Ray to let go of me before he suffocates me for real. I have heard cases of people who survived a battle with death only to get smouldered by a hug — don't ask, I don't know if it happened.

He slowly released me from his hold and sat on the bed. He sucked in a breath, looking like he was trying to calm himself down.

"What happened?" I asked once more. This time, I wanted to know exactly what happened. I need to know how I ended up in this place — wherever it might be. But it sure as hell isn't our room.

We don't have walls as white as these. Our room is painted deep mahogany.

"You were unconscious for three days! Do you know how worried I was?" He sniffed. "I was alerted by one of the teachers who came to pick your clothes. If not, I would have still been kept in the dark!" He furiously tugged on his hair. "You were supposed to compete, not to get yourself almost killed!"

This was my first time seeing Ray super worried. The Ray I know is more of a free guy, who jokes about everything. I have never seen him this winded up. It made me feel guilty because I know I was the one who made him feel this way.

"I'm sorry, man."

"You don't have to be. I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at myself for letting you throw yourself in the line for that competition. I should have been the one to go on your behalf." He heaved, sounding like one who ran a marathon when all we did was rant at me.

"I apologize for making you worry, Ray. I'm back, aren't I?" I tried to cheer him up, knowing he might continue ranting if I didn't do anything to make him stop.

"But at the expense of your life!" He got up from the bed, and paced the floors, looking like a mother who's worked sick about her child. "What exactly happened out there?"

This time, he sounded gentle. It was obvious that he wanted to know the answer to that question.

I sighed. This is one thing I also want to understand. I need to know what happened with the Alpha and how I ended up here. Fan was nowhere to be found, so I didn't know who else to ask. "I don't know much of what happened. I found a cave and intended to camp in there, but I was confronted by an Alpha from Howl Academy. We fought, and I lost consciousness. I don't know what happened after that. I woke up and found myself here, with you." I tried to joke, to lighten the mood, but it did the opposite.

"An Alpha attacked you? Like really attacked you?" He growled. His eyes changed into a dark golden, and his fangs seemed to elongate a bit. "I'm going to teach that damned Alpha a lesson of his life!"

Before I could blink or say a word, Ray was already out of the room.

"Ray!"

I called out to him, but he banged the door —hard — behind him. I winced, feeling like he actually hit the door on my face when he didn't.

The door opened once more, and Sky stepped in. He was like a mirror version of Ray. The only differences are the colour of his eyes and hair. Just like Ray, he looked like he hadn't slept a wink for days.

He has changed out of the clothes he was putting on when we started the contest. The black polo and back slacks made him seem like one who was going to a funeral, paired with the sad look on his face.

"Did you see Ray?" I asked without a moment of hesitation. "He just left the room and —"

"Let the Omega rant a bit. He has been that way since you were unconscious, ranting and screaming at anyone who so much as glanced his way. Even the teachers weren't left out. He screamed at them all, and sent the teachers packing to the Alphas' dorm." Sky closed the distance between us. He slowly sat on the bed as if he were allowing me enough time to refuse him.

"Oh," I nodded. I don't know what to say about the things I heard. Nodding my head seemed like the best option, so I took it.

"How are you feeling?" He asked, with an expression that made me frown. I know we have been friends since the day I bumped into him, but I don't think we are that close for him to look as worried as he did. The expressions on his face were just almost identical to the be in Ray's eyes. The only difference is the intensity of those orbs.

"Never felt great."

"Does any part of your body hurt?" He gave me a once over as if trying to make certain I was as okay as I claimed.

"You don't have to look at me that way. I'm good. My only problem is thirst. I wanted to ask Ray to get some water for me, but his rants prevented me from doing that. Can you please get some for me?" I sweetly smiled at him.

Sky froze before he slowly rose from the bed. He headed to the door only to turn to the right at the last minute. Not too far from the door was a cupboard. And it was there that he got a glass of water for me.

I gulped it down in one go and asked for more, which he gave me. I donned those down in one go before I wiped my mouth and handed the cup over to him. He took it back to the cupboard he got it from and kept it there before he returned to my side.

"What happened to me when I was unconscious? Why am I in the infirmary?" I glanced around the place, waiting for an answer from him.

"Your heat was induced."
