Chapter 4, Did It Happen or Not?

"Heh, woman." Ye Huang curved his lips, his laugh deep with meaning, his eyes seeming to peer into her heart.

Bai Xiao shuddered inside and deliberately hopped in place, "See, I don't feel uncomfortable at all."

Under the bareback dress, a pair of little white rabbits hopped.

Ye Huang's eyes were dazzled for a moment.

"Who told you a woman definitely feels uncomfortable afterward?" Ye Huang's mouth tilted up.

"The books say so, and so does the TV." Bai Xiao defended herself righteously.

"Heh, woman."

Bai Xiao was exasperated, "Can you stop that 'heh'? It's ambiguous."

"I am, indeed, looking down on you, foolish one." Ye Huang spared no mercy in his contempt for her.

"..."

Bai Xiao clenched her fists, her tone filled with barely suppressed fury, "You're personally attacking me again!"

"Looking for a fight?" Ye Huang scoffed, casually tensing his muscles which bulged with strength.

Bai Xiao chickened out, releasing her fists and drooping her head, "I was just trying to reason with you… Did we or did we not do it?"

Ye Huang pulled back the bedsheets, and on the big red bedsheet, there was one spot with a rather deep color, "See for yourself!"

"Is that..." virgin blood?

Bai Xiao felt as if struck by lightning, scorched on the outside and tender on the inside.

"We... really slept together..."

Ye Huang ignored her and got dressed to leave.

Bai Xiao's legs went weak, and she sat on the bed, weakly rubbing her forehead.

My god, not only had she inexplicably married Ye Huang, but she also slept with him? Wasn't he impotent?

Bai Xiao trembled as she touched the virgin blood on the bed.

It had dried, making the fabric harder in that spot, as if starched.

Her virginity! Her chastity preserved for twenty years, just like that... gone...

...

Time passed minute by minute, and daylight gradually brightened.

The birds in the trees awakened, chirping and singing. Soon, the people of the Ye Family also began to stir, and Bai Xiao heard the sound of footsteps on the stairs and water rushing through pipes.

"Ah!"

Bai Xiao sighed, lifted her head, moved her numb legs, and walked to the window.

Down below, in the greenery, Ye Huang was still running. His agile form momentarily mesmerized Bai Xiao.

Ye Huang, ah, the highly esteemed Ye Huang, the proud and unapproachable Ye Huang, the dream lover of countless women, the nephew of the current President of Country A... why on earth did he end up marrying her?

She had no recollection of getting married, let alone a marriage certificate with Ye Huang—there must be an issue?

Bai Xiao narrowed her eyes and bit down hard on her teeth, resolving to first understand the ins and outs of the situation before planning her next move.

An inexplicable marriage should be easy to resolve. One trip to the civil affairs bureau, a change of documents, and everything would be OK!

"Knock! Knock!"

Just then, someone knocked at the door, followed by a tender voice, "Little Xiao, are you awake?"

It was Granny Ye, a very kind old lady who had always been fond of Bai Xiao since she was a child. Especially when Bai Xiao first returned to the Bai Family from the mountains, unloved by her parents and shunned by relatives and friends, it was Granny Ye who always hugged her and showered her with love, much to the chagrin of her own grandson, Ye Huang.

"Little Xiao?" Granny Ye called again.

"Coming!"

Bai Xiao went to open the door barefoot.

Granny Ye was eighty years old this year, yet spirited. She and Bai Xiao's grandmother were comrades-in-arms, and Bai Xiao often followed her grandmother to the Ye Family's house to play when she was in elementary school. After her grandmother passed away, she never visited again.

Years later, Granny Ye gave her the same warm and affectionate feeling as before.
