Along with formation of the rules in the Chaos there were also different entities born which were some powerful, some weak. Among which there were entities which were powerful enough to kill even the most powerful being in the Cosmos in a moment. Chaos fire was such entity which only had instinct to find a worthy being of itself.

After eons had passed a wandering soul incidentally came into contact with the chaos fire and instead of being burned by it was assimilated with it and thus born to a peasant couple in the Northern continent of the Profound Sky world.

Talent was divided into different classes namely mortal, profound, heavenly and immortal. Mortal can cultivate most at Qi refinement, Profound to Nascent soul, Heavenly to Tribulation who have little chance to ascension and Immortal have more than fifty percent chance of ascension. Spirit roots also had different affinity to elements some had affinity to basic elements such as fire, water, soil, wind and wood. There are also mutations such as ice, thunder, mist, etc. People with affinity generally have higher achievement than the ones without one. There are also people without any affinity as well as multiple.People with more affinity had faster speed in cultivation within the same environment as their affinity. People without any affinity had to refine the elements out of the Qi thus reducing the speed of cultivation. So more affinity means faster speed but also means that they need more energy.

The Black rock town was famous for its Iron mine. Today it was very lively because today was the annual test of spiritual roots when people from different sects would come to test and recruit young talents in their sect. Centre square was decorated and there were many stalls opened on the roads leading to it. It had a lavish and festive atmosphere as it was one of the biggest occasions in the small town. Children with their guardians were roaming and looking at this atmosphere and buying if anything interesting was found. They were enthusiastic about it as it would decide their future.

Ryan was 13 year old this year and thus eligible to take the test for spirit roots which were essential for cultivation. Everyone has different spirit root composed of different elements of nature. He has been dreaming of this day for four years when he saw someone flying in the air and everyone in the town was respectful to him. After some inquiry he found out that he was a cultivator and had strength to flatten the whole town. Even the usually aloof town master also had to bow down to him. He also got to know that everyone can cultivate its just someone has more talent and thus walk longer on the road of cultivation than the others.

Ryan was always alone from the time he could remember. Only person to have ever taken care of him was an old beggar who died when he was 5 years. From then he has always been alone, making his end meets by doing odd jobs for the town and thus somehow could afford food for himself. He was very ordinary just like any other orphan in the town but no one knew that he has the possession of the strongest entity in existence.

He came to the center square where people were now queuing as it was time for the spirit root test.

He joined the queue along with the common children. There was another line for the children of the privileged section of the town. He looked around curiously found that there was a stage in front of him on which there were ten seats which represented ten sects that were near the Black rock town. All ten sects had almost equal strength and everyone could choose to enter as per their choices. Here many people will also be rejected as people without any affinity and mortal talent would not be given any chance or at most be handyman with small chance to truly start the cultivation journey.

There was platform on which there was a crystal clear ball which shone with lustre. After some time, ten old man came to the platform followed by the town master who looked like a servant unlike his usual aloof and arrogant self. One of the old man came forward and spoke in a loud voice which reached everyone in the square " Now everyone will lineup and come to the platform one by one and put their palm on the crystal ball here. Our old people will speak out if there are anyone who we are interested in. Now lineup and make sure not to disturb the proceedings."

After hearing the old man speak all children obediently lined up and started to move one by one. First one to come to the crystal ball was a boy about 12 to 13 years old dressed in a lavish manner with a-lot of jewellery. He was looking like a rich child from every corner. After touching the crystal ball it shone with white light meaning mortal talent. After seeing this the boy was pale looked desperate but the fact couldn't be changed.

The man in charge who was standing nearby asked the boy to stand aside and beckoned the one behind him.

As the test continued there were people with affinity but none were above mortal spiritual roots.

It was Ryan's turn and as soon as he put his hands on the crystal ball it glowed with green light along with which came a thought to him which made his body shook with disbelief. People thought he was ecstatic but the information he got was too much for him to digest. In a daze he accepted the invitation of one of the old man who introduced him to the sect called Emerald Wood Sect which cultivated the wood Qi which was also his shown spirit root and other sect representatives have no objection to it. He walked to side of old man numbly and looked through the information that appeared in his mind.
