To add insult to injury, the "divine presence" he had felt was just Qi - a simple energy force that he and others had mistakenly taken for something more profound.

Upon arriving, he witnessed a disciple being struck fatally by a poisoned palm to the back of the head. As he looked closer, Wudi recognized the fallen disciple as one of his companions from the group. Although Teacher Liang led them, not all the disciples were the same as when he left the academy, and this particular one he didn't know by name. Frowning, he observed the disciples from the Thousand Poison Sect and regretted not arriving sooner.
