Chapter 3

36 hours Earlier

"I'll see you tomorrow" a young girl no older then 25 said as she left the bar she worked at. she had just finished a 10 hour shift, working over time to pay for her mothers medical bills.

she began to walk down the street, she didn't bring her car that day, it was nice out so she decided to walk, she only lived a few blocks away anyway, what could happen? she always thought. it was midnight, but it was ok. she was used to walking home late at night, she did it often. not only because the money was slightly better but because she liked to look at the night sky as she walked home.

suddenly she felt a chill in the air, a bad feeling felt her gut almost like something had been watching her.

she began to pick up her pace and walk faster, but the feeling only continued to grow the faster ahe walked. then she tripped. "ah" she yelled as she hit the ground.

suddenly she heard a noise behind her, she quickly got up and turned around. "Hello?" she said carefully "Meow" she heard as an orange cat appeared out of the shadows "oh hello little kitty" the girl said kneeling down and petting it. "hello witch" she heard behind her. she quickly stood up and turned around. "who are you? what do you want?" she said quickly taking a step back. "Where is the hybrid?" the creature asked. it wasn't a person, nor a witch or wolf, not even a vampire. it was a bright green cloud almost. "what hybrid?" the girl asked tears filling her eyes.

she knew what was coming, she could see it. she closed her eyes as the green cloud surrounded her "te amo mater" she whispered. then the cloud disappeared, the girl stood up, then smiled "I think this body will do nicely" she said aloud.

"hey girl how you doing" a man said appearing and smacking her ass. "your a wolf?" the girl questioned "what's it to you?" the man questioned "you'll be perfect for a first meal" she said. "ut eorum potestatem et alveare ad me" she continued "Ahhhh" the man yelled as his body began to contort. it took less than a minute for his lifeless body to fall to the ground and for her to walk away.

Present time

Ambers POV

"Mommy am I gonna die?" Kyra asked me weakly. "of course not little light why would you ask something like that?" I asked her. "I saw you crying earlier" she said. "oh baby I was only crying because I was so worried that's all" I said to her.

3 hours has passed and they still hadn't figured out what was wrong with Kyra or the other children, her condition got worse, almost like her power was being drained.

"Amber how is she" my mother said entering the room "mom? when did you get here?" I asked shocked to see her. "Nathan told me what was going on, he and I are having the same issues" she said. "what do you mean, the same issues?" I asked confused. "a few days ago a witch was found dead in Nathans territory" my mother said "one from our coven?" I asked concerned "no but not to long after that a wolf was found dead, near our covens border" she replied.

"you don't think this is somehow connected do you?" I asked. "I don't know my dear" she replied "it's all just to weird to be happening at the same time" my mother continued. "damnit" I said. "Amber, Kyra is right there" my mother snapped.

I walked out of the room and down the hall just enough so Kyra couldn't hear. "Amber!" my mother said catching up to me. "it's always something isn't it" I said turning to her. "what do you mean?" she asked. "I mean there is always something coming after her isn't there" I replied. "when I was pregnant with her it was the Alpha council, trying to take control of her, then it was other witches in our coven, trying to figure out ways to kill her, then some old ass vampire, witch, and alpha wolf kidnapped me and tried to sacrifice her right after she was born. and I'm not even gonna mention Alarik" I explained.

"the only thing that stopped any of it, was when I chose to raise her with normal human people, and even that only lasted 4 and a half years" I finished. "how am I supposed to protect my daughter.... from something I can't even see or touch?" I asked. "I don't know" my mother replied.

"Amber" Nathan said finally appearing. he was with Derek, Stephan and Sarah. "how is she" Nathan asked "not good" I replied shaking my hand "I'll go check on her" Sarah said and I nodded. Sarah walked down the hall and into Kyra's room. "have you found anything out yet?" I asked Nathan.

"honestly no" he replied "there's no real evidence connecting the murders to the sick kids except their all supernatural, and there's nothing connecting the kids to how they got sick" he explained.

"how are they dying again?" I asked. "no real cause of death but it looks like the literal energy was sucked out of them" Derek answered. "how old were all of the victims?" I asked "between 20-30" said Stephan. "and what.... exactly..... did they look like?" I asked slightly hesitant.

"why does that matter?" Nathan asked confused. "just tell me" I demanded. "their bodies were all sunken in like they had been dead for weeks and had no water, like they were I don't know just dead for a long time" Nathan said.

"no way" I said turning away from them "what is it?" my mother asked. "from what it sounds like..." I said trailing off. "but it can't be can it?" I asked myself trying to be sure before I said it out loud "Spit it out" Stephan said. "I think it may be...." "Ahhhh" Sarah's scream interrupted me, causing all of us to run down to Kyra's room.

"Kyra's gone" Sarah said as she kneeled on the floor then turned to us as she cried.
