In the distant future, the world is devastated by a global disaster that leaves most of the planet uninhabitable. The few remaining humans live in one massive city, known as The Last City. The city is divided into various districts, each with its own rules and regulations, and is controlled by a powerful government that keeps a tight grip on every aspect of life.

The Last City

As they continued to explore the ancient sanctuary, Jax and Mia were shown more of the incredible technologies that the creatures had been guarding. They saw machines that could manipulate matter at the atomic level, devices that could project holographic images, and even a form of transportation that seemed to defy the laws of physics.


Mia took copious notes in her notebook, while Jax snapped countless photos with his camera. They were both amazed by what they were seeing, but also wary of the potential dangers that such powerful knowledge could pose.


After several hours of exploration, the creatures led Jax and Mia to a small, circular room at the center of the sanctuary. In the center of the room stood a tall, circular platform with strange symbols etched into its surface.


"This is the portal," one of the creatures said. "It is the gateway to other worlds, other realities."


Jax's eyes widened in amazement. "Other worlds? Can we go through it?"


The creature shook its head. "The portal is not to be used lightly. It is a powerful tool, and can have unpredictable consequences."


Mia stepped forward, her curiosity getting the better of her. "But what's on the other side? What kind of worlds are out there?"


The creature hesitated, then spoke. "The portal can lead to many different realities, some of which are beyond your imagining. But be warned, not all of these worlds are safe, and some may even be hostile to your kind."


Jax and Mia exchanged a nervous glance, but their sense of adventure overrode their fear. "We understand," Jax said. "Can you show us how to activate the portal?"


The creature nodded and began to demonstrate the complex sequence of symbols and gestures required to activate the portal. Jax and Mia watched intently, their hearts racing with excitement.


Finally, the creature stepped back, gesturing to the portal. "It is done. The portal is open. But remember, use it wisely."


Jax and Mia stepped forward, tentatively at first, then with growing confidence. They stepped onto the circular platform and looked out into the swirling vortex of light that filled the portal.


Taking a deep breath, they stepped forward and disappeared into the portal, leaving behind the ancient sanctuary and the strange, iridescent creatures that guarded it.


Chapter 9 - Portal
