My New Normal

I could not sleep last night, thinking about how I ended up here. I was sitting on the rocking chair, gazing at the photo hanging on the wall. It was a family photo. In this photo, everybody looked happy. I get to my feet and walk toward the door. I was slow or dragging my feet toward the door. I slowly open the door. I hear noises that are not loud, but you can hear them. As I was standing, I saw someone coming towards my room from the stairs. Suddenly, I closed the door and returned to bed. I lay on the bed and tucked myself in.

The door opens, and an old lady comes into the room. I closed my eyes. Alberta stands over me and touches my forehead. I get scared and move my head away. What is wrong with you? What did you do that for? "I am your mother. I will not hurt you. I cannot imagine what you went through, "Alberta said to me.

I was just lying there, gazing at her, and I said nothing. Fine, I have come to inform you that you are coming downstairs today for breakfast. I want you to get ready, and I will send your brothers to help you get down," Alberta said. I was just staring at her. "Do not look at me like that. You are fine. The doctor said, "You will be feeling okay in the next two or three days."

Alberta walks towards the closet and opens it. She takes out the shirt and pants from the closet. She places it on the chair. I was sitting up and staring at her. I want you to get yourself ready. If you need any help, I will send your father to you, "Alberta said to me."

Abruptly, I said no; I am good. I come down in a minute. Alberta looks at me while walking out of the room. I stood up and walked to the door. When I was locking the door, I noticed that the door was not in good condition because it was too old and there was no lock on the door.

Fifteen minutes later, a young man enters the room. I was sitting on the chair. I have changed my clothes. Solidly built with cream skin, he has a shy feeling about him.

He has slanted, black eyes; a pointed chin; and rosy cheeks. He has medium-length, straight, black hair. He has muscular legs, slanted shoulders, a wide torso with chiseled abdominal muscles, and long arms.

Jordan needs personal space and is sneaky, tense, and indulgent. "Everybody was present at the table for breakfast. Mother wants you to come downstairs and have dinner with everyone." Jordan said. I look toward him. I am not hungry. Tell her I am not coming downstairs to eat," I said.

Jordan walked out of the room. After this, I walk up to the door and try to hear the conversation between Alberta and Jordan. As Alberta saw, Jordan came back alone. Where is your brother? I asked you to bring him down with you. " Suddenly, Alberta’s tone changes, and she starts yelling. I told you to bring him down."

Daniel said he was not hungry, so he was not coming downstairs. Jordan said. Do not worry. I check on him. Just give me a minute. " Robert said. I hear that Robert is coming upstairs to my room. I ran to bed. Robert opens the door. He stood in the doorway. "Your mother is calling to have dinner with us," Robert said. I was staring at the ground. I said nothing.

Do you hear me? I am talking to you," Robert said sadly. I look at Robert. Why are you so angry? I only said I was not coming downstairs to eat," I said. Come down with us. We are all waiting for you, "Robert said. I am not asking.

5' 4" tall with caramel skin, he has a cold-hearted feel about him. He has large, brown eyes, puffy cheeks, small ears, and a square jaw. He has knee-length, straight, black hair. He has a short neck and average-sized feet., He is Mean, well-mannered, and has a dark sense of humor.

Jace helps me to come downstairs. I walked into the kitchen. I was the first time outside the room. I was observing the surroundings. The house was small. The window was covered with a black curtain. On the right side are two small rooms, and on the left side are a TV launch and kitchen on the back of the stairs. I sit on the chair. The children had gone after having dinner. I looked around. The house was incredibly old. There were a lot of family photos hanging on the walls in every room. Alberta serves the food at the table. Everybody starts eating. While they were eating, it was difficult for me to eat because my right arm was not moving. I was struggling to eat. Alberta was watching me.

If you want me, I can help you. I can feed you," Alberta said. I look at her. I am good. This is my life now. I cannot run away from it. It does not mean I will be better later again," I replied.

What do you mean? You are fine. Why are you so passive?" Alberta said to me, "You should be thankful to God that you have been given a second chance. You are alive and with your family. You should be happy about it." I nodded my head. I dropped the glass on the ground. Is that good that I have no memory of who I am? I do not remember the faces. I do not remember you. I do not know my name." I reply.

Alberta comes over to me. She looks at me with a smile. Your name is Danial. You are our son. You have three brothers and one sister. They are here for you. Alberta said, "Let’s eat. We will talk later."

Afterward, I returned to his room. Jace helped me get back to bed. Jordan follows me to the room. You should lie down. "Get some rest," Jordan said. I did not want to rest. I want to go out for a walk," I replied.

Mother said that you need more rest because you are not completely fine. It is our mother’s order," Jordan tells me. You should not disobey her. "Jace warns me. Are you kidding me? If I disobey her, what will happen?" I asked. I looked at them with surprise.

Jordan nodded his head. He meant, "She is our mother. You should not disrespect her. Mother stayed awake the whole night and prayed to God that He would bless you with good health. At last, she deserves that, "Jordan says. Jace is stupid. He does not know anything. I am in my room if you need anything; just call me." Jordan said.

"Fine, thank you for everything," I said to Jordan.

They walked out of the room. I lie on the bed. I was staring at the picture on the nightstand. In this picture, I am standing alone with Alberta.

Why do I not remember? Why does it all look fake? "Why don’t I feel something as if they are my family?" I was thinking.

I drag myself to the right side of the bed, grab the photo, and place it on the floor. Alberta was peering at me from the doorway. "What's up with my arm... why isn't my right arm moving?" I screamed. What kind of mishap was it? Why does everything look to be odd?"
